I couldn't imagine smiling while my child was missing.

Just throwing this out there.

Do you think parents staged disappearance of kids because they feared maybe something could happen to them with the drug trial coming up?

Maybe they know exactly where they are and that explains how they're acting so comfortably?

Just a thought.

I've thought that a few times. I don't understand how they can be so lackadaisical about a missing child.

I'd go along with that... the above are not people who look too concerned about their kids that have been missing for over two weeks.

Remember, LE has focused on them because of the polygraphs. Who knows, maybe dad was threatened with 'testify the way we need you to or something will happen to the girls.'

Neither seem smart to stage an abduction bit maybe that's what theyve done?

Neither seem smart enough to stage an abduction bit maybe that's what theyve done?

^^^ I really hate posting from my phone!

WTF!

Yeah, but if they thought their girls were in danger, they could've sent them or hidden them somewhere safe - without staging an abduction. They're the parents, the girls aren't missing school...they wouldn't have to account for the girls' whereabouts to anyone.

Misty Morrissey was hospitalized after authorities found her "sleeping", but were unable to wake her up. Family members claim she had been to the hospital earlier that day, was taking heavy medication, and was later seen drinking alcohol.

One of the comments asks if Misty is even allowed to drink alcohol since she is on probation. I am not familiar with the rules, but I thought alcohol and drugs were verboten while on probation. Maybe LC could weigh in here?

she had a patch on in previous photo. to detect drugs. it may detect alcohol as well. yes, many on probation are required to remain booze-free, she could be violated if that applies in her case.
i don't know the terms of her probation.

EVANSDALE, Iowa — Hunters found two bodies Wednesday believed to be those of young Iowa cousins who vanished five months ago while riding their bikes, authorities said.

The families of 11-year-old Lyric Cook and 9-year-old Elizabeth Collins have been notified of the discovery, said Black Hawk County sheriff's Capt. Rick Abben said. Abben wouldn't say where the bodies were found.

Appearing to fight back tears as he broke the news in Evansdale, near where the girls disappeared in July, Abben said: "It's definitely not the outcome that we wanted, obviously."

"This is a difficult thing for us to go through. It's a difficult thing for the community," he added, recalling how officers had worked around the clock looking for the girls.

The girls' families have asked the media to respect their privacy, and they offered no immediate comment.

The girls disappeared the afternoon of July 13 while riding bikes in Evansdale, about 110 miles northeast of Des Moines, near a popular recreational lake in the middle of town.

Investigators found their bikes and a pink purse near the lake hours later, but no sign of the girls.

Hundreds of volunteers canvassed the area in the following days, traipsing through cornfields and wooded areas. The mayor even flew above in his private plane looking for them.

Abben said the bodies were found around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday and are being sent to the state medical examiner's office to confirm their identities. He said the area where they were found is still being searched, and that additional details would be released at a news briefing Thursday.

Unbelievable.

I really expected them to be returned safely.

How can the police honestly have no leads in this case after 5 months?

MS,

I thought the same. I thought that it was intertwined with the parents' drug/court issues. This sucks.

Thank you for the update SC. Devastating outcome, such beautiful little girls.

I'm not convinced it isn't intertwined with parents' drug convictions. Wasn't there some co-defendant of one of the girls' dads that was missing? Did they ever find that guy?

Good point and not sure about the missing friend; I think this will hit closer to home than what people believe. Just a gut feeling.............I'll research more later this evening.

Didn't the cops say several months ago that their feeling was these girls were alive and being hidden?

I never once saw the mother of one of them show concern, however I did see her in a bar smiling & yucking it up with friends & family.

With pink stripper heels on to boot. I guess I can't really judge on this; I'm a firm believer that good shoes are a necessity. However, if one of my girls was missing - an interview would probably have to be done in a johnny and slippers from a psych ward.
