Hijacking makes more sense to me, too.
If it was suicide and one of the pilots restrained the other in order to turn off the transponders, why fly around for hours? If his own death was the primary goal, why not just crash the plane?
I guess it's possible that a suicidal pilot on a crazed power trip might wanna prolong the drama and scare the shit outta the audience he was about to murder.
IDK. I wonder if we'll ever really have any answers confirmed. Looks like malfunction and accident are off the list of possibilities for all investigative agencies (though officially none are ruling anything out). Somebody(s) purposely made sure the plane didn't reach Beijing.

I'm still going with pilot suicide versus hijacking.
For whatever reason I think this guy wanted more of an elaborate suicide mission. And, if the plane is never found, people will never really know what happened.
As far as concerns over how he could do this with a co-pilot on board, he could've done this while he went to the bathroom. He could've slipped something in a drink, or could have harmed him (leading to incapacitation).
I know there's been coverage yesterday and today of the Malaysians going through the homes of the two pilots. I'll be interested to know what they've found, and how much they'll make public.
Whoever did this was 'an experienced pilot' the news services keep saying. Well, who was the most experienced pilot on the plane?
I feel so badly for the families of those on board. Imagine thinking now that there may be some hope they're alive after believing for a week that they're gone? Just horrible.
Edit: I hope I'm wrong. I hope hijackers took over and told the pilot to take them to a location and shortly we'll find everyone's okay.

I saw someone speculate that it was on the ground somewhere being prepped for another terrorist attack.
There is no radar over water.
I saw a wife interviewed by that twat Piers and it made me want to cry with her.

Seeing more speculation that one/both of the pilots hijacked their own plane, essentially.
I understand the rationale, given the level of expertise needed to manually turn off the tracking devices. But, it's not hard for me to believe that someone on board could have forced them to do it as well.
Seems all the bases are being covered by authorities, but it must be a huge job investigating the backgrounds of 239 people.
About the pilots
Snip:
Najib said that in light of the mounting evidence that the plane was deliberately diverted, the investigation into the aircraft's crew and passengers would be stepped up.
Special branch officers have searched the homes of the captain, 53-year-old Zaharie Ahmad Shah (pictured right), and first officer, 27-year-old Fariq Abdul Hamid (pictured left), in middle class suburbs of Kuala Lumpur close to the international airport.
An experienced pilot, Zaharie has been described by current and former co-workers as a flying enthusiast who spent his off days operating a life-sized flight simulator he had set up at home.
The Transport Ministry said experts were examining the simulator but appealed to the public "not to jump to conclusions regarding the police investigation".
The senior police official said the flight simulator programmes were looked at closely, adding they appeared to be normal ones that allowed players to practice flying and landing in different conditions.
Postings on his Facebook page suggest the pilot was a politically active opponent of the coalition that has ruled Malaysia for the 57 years since independence.
A day before the plane vanished, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim was convicted of sodomy and sentenced to five years in prison, in a ruling his supporters and international human rights groups say was politically influenced.
Asked if Zaharie's background as an opposition supporter was being examined, the senior police officer would say only: "We need to cover all our bases."
Malaysia Airlines has said it did not believe Zaharie would have sabotaged the plane, and colleagues were incredulous.
"Please, let them find the aircraft first. Zaharie is not suicidal, not a political fanatic as some foreign media are saying," a Malaysia Airlines pilot who is close to Zaharie told Reuters. "Is it wrong for anyone to have an opinion about politics?"
Co-pilot Fariq was religious and serious about his career, family and friends said, countering news reports suggesting he was a cockpit Romeo who was reckless on the job.

This is what I think happened. There are a zillion and one opinions out there right now.
It's awful to think that big bitch could be loaded with explosives in order to carry out another act of terrorism. I don't imagine it could be successful, it would probably be shot out of the sky long before it reached its destination.

Remember when I asked for the so-called 'smoking gun' event that could've pushed he senior pilot over the edge?
It was reported yesterday that the day before flight MH370, the senior pilot's wife and three children moved out of the house they lived in together.
Edit: after quick scan this morning, can't find it. Wonder if it was in the Enquirer (not that I'd admit it).

You know, the rags make news more interesting, but I guess not necessarily true.

CNN is reporting today that authorities believe the plane flew below 5,000 feet to avoid radar detection.
I wonder if that's true.

I don't consider the Mirror to be a legitimate news source. I don't care if others do, I'm just saying that I don't so I don't give credence to their reporting.

I'm shocked that everyone is dismissing the 2 IRANIANS with the fake passports.
Russia...Iran...Israel.
IMO...this plane will be headed to Israel packed full of bombs someday soon.
May be far fetched, but that's what I believe.

I hope that the communication those engines have with the satellites cannot be disconnected and they have a unique signiture so when and if the plane is put back into the air it can be detected.

What do y'all think has happened to the passengers? Care to venture a guess?
I can't recall where I read this but I did see it said that the plane had climbed to 45,000 feet at one point.

The Daily Mail is now reporting the same info and have an indepth timeline of the pilot's last day. (the day of the flight)

I hear you, Zero and I saw some graphics they had yesterday but I've posted so much bad info that I now wait to get several confirmations simply because I embarrassed myself so many times.

For sure the plane was taken to that elevation. Speculation is it was deliberate and was done to depressurize the cabin and quickly subdue all passengers and flight attendants. This could explain the lack of communication of anyone onboard to their loved ones on the ground. If this is the case, the pilot would have incapacitated the co-pilot or sent him out of the cockpit for his nap or sugessted he go back and scout the cabin for some beauty to bring forward to the cockpit. Then climb to 45,000 to commit mass murder, then fly undetected for 5 hours and ditch the plane somewhere it may never be found.-IMHO

It's incredible to me that I can check from the grocery store to see if my home doors are locked or turn on the crock pot but they can't find a jumbo jet.
