Sorry...I don't agree with a $10 min. wage. MW should be a high school job or a part time job, not a job where people can support themselves.

I don't see how anyone could support themselves or a family on $10 an hour either. They would still need welfare.

The thing is, Welfare is proudly handed down from generation to generation, almost as a legacy. Those who are not motivated to work, will do nothing to motivate their children to work. They will just motivate them to make more children so they can get a bigger welfare check.
I have nothing against getting some benefits to help put food on the table, as many working families often need that. But there has to be more motivation to get out of the system. There is not. I once knew a family who wanted to get off welfare. The husband got a free computer, and classes to learn the skills to get work. Suddenly there were "cutbacks". And guess what was the first to go? The computer and training. Does that make any sense???

There is nothing stopping anyone from starting a small business in addition to their minimum wage job. There is a couple of black guys that come around here trimming trees and doing yard work and they make a couple hundred bucks a day or more. I just paid them $200 to trim an oak tree and take a Brazilian pepper tree out of my back yard and they were here for a little over an hour. They probably aren't licensed and insured or anything and don't advertise, but they could invest a little more money into it and eventually have a large tree service like the other company I got a $600 estimate from.

There really should be a setup that weans them off the tit.

Some people have ambition & the desire for more, others don't. Those who don't often lack pride as well.

When the welfarer's can get more $$$ from the welfare system, then working a minimum pay job, it's a no brainier for them to not want to even consider working at a $7.25/hr job. And actually wind up getting less $$ for doing so, consequently there is no incentive for them. The raising of the minimum wage to $10.10/hr (still not really that big of incentive) was a step in the right direction to entice working.
This country has to wake up, and completely revise the requirements for people receiving government assistance. SS should not be considered & is not welfare. And should not have it's couffer's continually raided by the government for the welfare grubbers. The government says in the coming years, SS will run out of money for all the people who contributed into that fund all their working lives. Well god dammed right, of course it will run out, due to all those un contributing welfare grubbers who never put a dime in the fund, grabbing/getting sometimes more then the contributing SS recipients. WTF!?

I can't help the people that voted this jerk in office. I can't help that the libs have made life so easy for these lazy fuckers.

I had plenty of incentive to go out and work for $3.35 an hour in high school and cherished that $60 a week check like it was gold.

Raise the minimum wage and the price of everything goes up along with unemployment.

Make these lazy babymakers go out and at least do community service for our money.

Why make businesses pay more for employees and still yet not lower the welfare payment by 10% every 6 months until it evens out. Why punish the ones that are doing all the work and struggling to evade all the stipends that keep a running business in the black.

My parents raised me to work hard and earn what I want, so that's what I did and continue to do. If I can do it blind, those lazy ass fuckers down in the projects can do it, but they won't. They'll continue to suck the system dry. Their motto is "Workin is for suckers." And as long as society keeps giving them an avenue to do it they will. If and when society blocks that avenue, they will steal.
