Umm...

Total snow noob here. How the fuck do you stop all that snow stacked up against your door like that from running into your house when it melts? I wouldn't imagine a towel rolled up at the sill would cut it.

I can answer this, I was stuck in Pittsburgh one year.
Heavy wet snow packs against the wall and it sometimes look Just like that when you open the door.

Well you didn't exactly answer it, but thanks for the effort.

When the snow is that high, as soon as it stops snowing, you dredge out there and shovel out the door ways, front and back.
Not only to stop water melting in, but more importantly to egress the house quickly in case of a fire, or some other emergency?

No shit. I'm curious too. I can only imagine that causes an unholy mess in one's entryway.

I've looked like that a bunch of times.

And Crash the door threshold is tilted away from the inside, the snow does not melt fast enough to really have puddles, when it does melt it seeps under the snow. That looks like the cellar entryway to an unfinished house so he probably could care less if it does get wet.
Nobody leaves that stuff in the door very long and many folks have an eave above the door maybe 6-12" out to deflect the snow out a little. That picture is deceiving with no real depth.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

I think it should be brisk around the holidays and snowy, picturesque and jolly, ho ho ho, fa lalala la. Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown.

You're gonna be busy.

There's a nor'easter brewing off the coast. I'm actually a little excited about it. Other than running into town I don't have to be out in it and I'd like to see some flurries for the holiday.

You guys are used to that kind of weather, it shuts my state down completely. Schools have been closed even before the first flake has fallen and god help you if you need bread or milk, you won't find any in a fifty mile radius. It's ridiculous. People here don't know what real snow is, not the kind ya'll get up north anyway.

It's been pouring here for 15 hours straight now, it doesn't let up for a minute. It's starting to annoy me, mostly because of having to let the dogs out to the bathroom and then back in.
