*fist bump*
I wanted that win so badly. I had my hands clasped like a little kid. Will he or won't he retire? He plugged Budweiser twice last night (a HUGE no-no in the NFL). He probably had his own distribution and endorsement deals signed before he hit the field last night. He's retiring folks. Fo SHO.
He owns a beer distributer. He's more than likely going to own a few more now.

A couple contract incentives for Peyton - $2 million for winning the AFC and $2 million for winning the Super Bowl. His total comp from the Broncos this season - $19 million.

Cam really turned me off after the AZ game.
His whole 'nobody's ever seen anybody like me before' comment was actually very disrespectful to other black QB's that came before him.
The Broncos game plan looks like it was pretty simple: get to him and hit him as often as you can.
A couple of moments stood out to me: 1) when he slid near midfield after a scramble and TJ Ward went flying right over him, Cam got up and looked at the refs like, "hey, he was going to hit me in the head." No shit, Sherlock. He wanted to take your frickin head off.
2) at the very end of the game, 3rd and 24 from their 3 yard line, Cam scrambles in the end zone, throws it away, then gets body slammed. Begs the ref for a flag and gets nothing.
Finally, him backing away from his fumble late in the game when it's still 16-10. He won't be able to live that one down in the locker room with his teammates. When they see that tape, they'll look at him differently.
He got a good lesson in humility. Got his dick knocked in the dirt and looked like a wimp by not trying to recover a loose ball.
We'll see if makes him a better player and person.

I just watched Cam's interview again. *cringe*
I know Tom or Peyton or many other QB's wouldn't have handled it like that but I can't work up any snark for that kid.

I still like Cam, and love his enthusiasm.
He got a little ahead of himself and thought he was invincible.
He'll be much different next time around, the way he carries himself, guaranteed.

A few years ago when the Seahawks won the SB I made some snarky comments about Richard Sherman and his very brief interview with Erin Andrews immediately after the game. I've always regretted that. Like you said, he'll be much different the next time around. I don't think this will be his only rodeo.

He looked so sad and I'm sure he didn't want to answer questions from asshole reporters.

We'll see if makes him a better player and person. You did notice he was having some issues with his left shoulder during the game didn't you? From what I understand, this was due to him patting himself on the back for 2 weeks prior to the big game.

This is my hometown team and the Panthers, especially Cam Newton brought a lot of pride to us and made us a 300 mile community. Cam is young and very well spoken...most of the time but sometimes just walking away is the best thing to do.
That interview was set up dirty. But what more can be expected of the media!

Really? He can't just disrespect every QB that came before him, he has to be relegated to the black ones? Because his QB play is defined by his blackness?
He's cocky. Definitely not the first and certainly not the last NFL player to think he's the greatest of all time.

I'm almost certain that's what he was implying.
James Brown of CBS had an interview with him that aired during Sunday's pre-game and that's what he was trying to say without actually saying it.
And, you're right, he won't be the last cocky player to get embarrassed on the games biggest stage.

Not that I've spoken to a lot of people about this kid but those that I have, have nothing nice to say about him. They all remark on his attitude.

That interview was set up dirty. But what more can be expected of the media! First of all, this is his 5 th year in the NFL. As a 5 year veteran he should conduct himself professionally. Secondly, there was no dirty interview. He overheard an interview being held with the opposing team and they were discussing why it was so easy to get to him. Usually, if the defense of the opposing team handily defeats the offense as the Broncos did, those kinds of questions are going to come up with the winning teams defense. I backed Cam on the whole "if you don't want to see me dance keep me out of the end zone" thing, but I can't back him on this. You have to sit there and endure the tough questions when you lose. Losing sucks, but how you handle it is just as important as how you act when you win.

I agree with this.
Unfortunately, I'm a sore loser & an even worse winner. *sigh*
