I think Mags seriously doesn't know the difference between a 'spy' and a 'confidential informant'. They are indeed different types of human sources, no matter how the President and his propagandists try to conflate the two.

When Merkley was demanding entry I had sudden horrible flashbacks of Jonestown, Guyana. We moved into California from Oregon in May 1979 and the story was huge out there with Leo Ryan getting shot and killed. We are living in scary times.

Many times when I'm trying to better understand a situation I put myself in their shoes. The thought of being a child and being separated from my mom & dad is heartbreaking to me. I know those kids are scared! I know their parents are scared too, they don't know where their kids are or how they are being cared for. I'm sad and I'm pissed.

Keep in mind that most of the "lost kids" are with relatives who don't want them to be found because they don't want them to get deported.

We know some have been placed with people who ultimately trafficked them for forced labor (though it's not clear how often the unaccounted-for kids have been placed is such situations). I hope the new focus on the kids leads to more investigation and systemic improvements.

Trump got quite a few Latino votes many who have come here legally are pissed that illegal ones get a free ride. In the Latino communities gangs are prevalent and they are mostly made up of illegal aliens. Also many are religious and tend to be conservative.

I'm still not sure how all this is going down really. The Dems want to blow it up to make it look like Trump is the cause for all this and like to show pictures that do not represent the entire situation. The Pubs say its been going on for years and its not as bad as it is portrayed. Children are getting sent to the border without parents. some are some aren't. Somewhere between the two is the truth.

Well if words didn't get pulled out of peoples asses to replace the words that are already there to make it sound better maybe you wouldn't be thought of as idiots.

He did get 28% of Latino votes, which is still not a large percentage of the Latino voter base and only about 1 point higher than Mitt Romney. Clinton got nearly 70%.

I've not seen anything to indicate that the majority of Latinos who voted for Trump generally did so because they resent illegal/undocumented Latinos, or because they believe or perceive that Latinos are prone to causing gang infestation.

What I've seen in post-election analysis (posted previously) appears to indicate they primarily voted for him because he promised better healthcare for all and more jobs.

And, a smaller portion of the Latino citizen population wouldn't vote for anyone who didn't support banning abortion due to their conservative religious beliefs (as you noted).

Most of the people you refer to as "illegal aliens" came to this country legally and failed to renew their paperwork/status. Thus, they're often referred to as "undocumented immigrants". I've posted the facts so many times, I'm not gonna waste time doing it again. Some people just don't care about truth if it conflicts with their story/rhetoric/biases.

Those that entered illegally are often and accurately referred to as "illegal immigrants". And, sometimes people use "undocumented immigrants" and "illegal immigrants" interchangeably -- that's true. The "alien" reference is just stupid, in my opinion.

"Confidential informants" are not called "spies" by anyone who's not completely ignorant or trying to float a false narrative. They are two different types of human sources with different functions. Look it up.

You can float as many euphemisms down the river as long as you want and say its a car for all I care. Saying that a legal immigrant does not become illegal when their visa or green card expires and they stay for years more is still illegal. Perhaps you are a big fan of "public diplomacy" or propaganda or maybe "non-operative personnel" for dead soldiers. Double speak comes in all forms and shapes to make things sound better when in all actuality is still the same. Liberals love to use it but I thought you were an independent.

Maybe states should just say "Budget reinforcement" rather than taxes.

Label immigrants without legal authorization to be here 'illegal aliens' all you want -- you have a right to free speech and it reflects your true feelings.

But, you're wrong to suggest that there aren't different categories of unauthorized or illegal immigrants for which there are different and accurate terms and that it's a "liberal thing" to refer to them as anything but "illegal aliens".

I think I pointed out my view of the differences clearly enough in the post to which you responded, so I'll leave it at that.
