And don't put words in my mouth Maggot on such a serious subject. It's not funny it's evil. I know you're not cruel.

She does that quite a bit. So does Dono and sadly it is currently a socially acceptable column of thought. "Oh you disagree with me? You are a RACEST!" I see it on the interwebz every day.

Dont worry Australia is far worse. My research was specifically examining Australia's treatment. Our detention centres are hell on Earth people have died. Like concentration camps. Shame on us.

Maybe if they were more like walking onto the "Love boat" more would come and spread their diversity throughout the land.

Yes. I think we should welcome with open arms every fucked up individual the universe has to offer and once they slide on in with absolutely no vetting we should hook 'em with the right to vote, a fuckton of welfare benefits and homes in the finest zip codes.

I was disappointed to read about how it's played out.  I remember briefly discussing the new detention/processing system with you here a few years ago, when it first passed.  It sounded like a good and fair improvement....on paper.

Awink

Of course..........that's never been how immigrants and refugees are treated in this country and it's not being proposed now, as I know you know.

But, that obviously won't stop some people who are ignorant regarding the requirements and processes from predictably attempting to associate the content of your sarcastic statement to a political party or President whom they look upon unfavorably.

Of course it would be silly to be as presumptuous an ass to believe that "some people" who may respond in a joking reply to said sarcasm about a President that they are mostly indifferent to, are ignorant regarding the requirements and processes of immigration and refugees.

I hope you will not make said ass of yourself HOTD. Smiley_emoticons_wink

It was a predictable and worn out 'joke' reply that many before you have made in response to hundreds of posts.

I find it mock-worthy. You'll live.

And there's no reason for you to expend any 'hope' on my behalf, though I sure do appreciate the concern. ')

There is always hope HOTD. I am concerned for you too. I think you are very smart and articulate and yet you are saying a lot of silly things. It IS a concern.

DACA Extended by Another Federal Court

The Trump administration keeps trying, and failing, to end DACA recipients' protection from deportation.

DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients, known as Dreamers, are undocumented immigrant children who were under 16 when they were brought to the U.S.   They must be:
  • At least 15 years old when applying but under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012
  • Living in the U.S. continuously since June 15, 2007
  • Present in the U.S. on June 15, 2012, and at the time of applying
  • In school or have graduated or completed high school, or have been honorably discharged from the military
  • Not convicted of a felony, a significant misdemeanor or three or more other misdemeanors
This time out, the administration argued that Obama's DACA Executive Order was unconstitutional.  The 9th District Federal Appeals Court disagreed with the government's 'unconstitutional' argument.

President Obama signed the Executive Order in 2012 because Congress refused to address the issue.  Today, the court ruled that the DACA Executive Order was within the President's executive authority.

I really hope that Trump is motivated to work with Chuck and Nancy in finally giving DACA recipients a path to citizenship which will take the nearly 700,000 Dreamers out of constant limbo, and that President Trump can manage to sell a fair deal to the immigration hard-liners in his party and pass a bill into law.

Trump, however, is trying to push the issue to the Supreme Court instead.  This week, he filed a petition to have DACA immediately decided there.

I kind of suspect that the Supreme Court won't take up the case unless further Congressional effort is made to settle the matter by legislation.

Let's be honest. That has been on the table a while. If they give him the wall he will give them DACA BUT they don't get what they want without giving him what he wants.
Doesn't work that way.

I just want to use and go by the laws we have now, it would be a great start. Stop changing them with circuit courts.
