Cali has been a democratic state since the early '90's,  and the COL was astronomical even back then.   I don't blame politics for the high taxes though,  I blame the earthquakes and wildfires.  

Taxachusettes has a pretty high COL as well,  that's why the massholes keep moving to New Hampshire-unfortunately, massholes demand things like roadside trash pick up, and actual paved roads, which causes our taxes to go up, then the damn Massholes start complaining about the property taxes in NH being so high.  Where do they think the money for the services they want comes from?  We have no income tax and we have no sales tax, of course shit like that is going to raise property taxes.
