There is a difference between nigga and nigger. I highly doubt Mafonna has to worry about economic repercussions. She made her fortune years ago. It's not like she puts out current music or tours that often anymore.

I don't feel there is a difference to me necessarily. But many black people feel that way. Some that I know anyway. They don't call each other the N word because they are not thugs. But they say that blacks that call other blacks nigga say it along the same lines as brother. They call other blacks NIGGER when referring to a thug. Much like when whites call other whites white trash or trailer trash. Now I'm not saying that this explanation applies to all blacks. I don't mean to generalize. This is just from my black friends.
