The media loves generalizations because it is an easy way to pigeon hole people into nice little convenient categories that they can then turn into demographics they can cater and sell things too.
As for white people having no rhythm and not being able to dance?, look at most genres of dance and there as many white people as there are any other race. Yet another stereotype that is largely bullshit.

All Pelicans do not exhibit the same behavior, though. Brown ones are very different than the White ones found on the west coast of America, for example.
