The catholic church is as corrupt as it comes, its a business, it protects peados. If you go to Venice and go into catholic churches, you pay to get in, then pay again several times to see different parts of the church, they give you a cheap bit of cloth to put on your head. If the catholics follwed the teachings, the Vatican would be sold to feed the hungry and ill.

It's hard to disagree with that, given the state of this world, but my experience is that the path of least resistance leads straight to hell -- however you define that term.
I think it comes down to empowerment vs disempowerment, and without rock solid communities disempowerment will always prevail.
