FWIW, I believe that Hasan should be charged with domestic terrorism, based on the publicly released evidence to date - particularly his many communications with al-Awlaki prior to the attack, and I disagree with the MIAC report conclusions regarding Libertarians (ridiculous).

Of course you completely disregarded the second half of her post stating the correct and obvious problem with most of your OP: unrelated incident. No causal relationship or other connection. Were they mistakes in official judgment? Possibly. World's full of fuckups like that. But to infer some sort of relationship where there isn't one is misguided when you do it and damned irresponsible when Fox does.

The media picks and chooses what they deem is newsworthy. The more sensational and controversial the bigger they portray it with polls and interviews that lean towards their own agendas. Americans and most of the world is filled with idiots that believe everything they read and hear.
There is not one single news source out there that is not sympathetic towards one cause or another and out of the billions on this planet there will always be a person with a bullseye on their back. If I was a space alien and was listening to radio and television broadcasts as I approached earth I would think humans were a form of cancer, milling about morphing into some crazy shape as they ate the planet until it died.

I dropped my friend off at the airport this morning. He's a history buff and comes from a deep military family; moved around all of his childhood. Yesterday, we went to the San Francisco cemetary at the Presidio. 35,000 military persons are buried there, starting with those who served in the Mexican American War in 1846. I like the hiking, barbecues and partying that comes with Memorial Day weekend, but agree that it's important to remember what it's really all about.

My first question pointed to 13 Soldiers killed on American soil by a terrorist that will not be brought to justice for the real crimes he committed.
My thoughts are with those families today as well as the families of all of our heros who have paid with their lives for my right to bitch about stuff like this.

Are you talking about the US Justice Department vs. the State of Arizona and Gov. Jan Brewer in 2010? I think there was also a subsequent lawsuit filed last year, again by Holder and the US Justice Dept., against Arizona Sheriff Arpaio and Maricopa county for racially profiling Latinos. I don't know the current status of either case.
