Yes, I'm sure we do have military all over the world but we aren't at war (at least overtly) in those other places. I too agree that government is a different entity than the military (until you get to the very top) but the Commander in Chief and the government largely decide where we're willing to fight. Honestly, there is more rebuilding in Iraq right now than war. The war in Iraq has petered out. Only the crazy terroristic bombing fucks are keeping it going in spurts. The real war is in Afghanistan. Helmand province is ground zero now. Kandahar is dangerous now, too. Coalition forces have had more casualties this year than any other year in Afghanistan. In fact, we lost a boy yesterday from the II Marine Expitionary Force. Britian lost a boy today in Helmand province. They still have the French hostages in Afghanistan. The Taliban isn't a joke. They need not to exist. That extra money on the national debt did NOT go to the military. They are doing without over there. They charge the men for MRE meals now during field training. That money went to Air Jordan wearing-Xbox playing-music thumping pieces of shit in our own country so they can sit around in more comfort while our men die in the mountains. I despise Obama. You know if you made any sense you would be dangerous to yourself and others, Afghanistan and Iraq are both classrooms for our very young military, they were designed to teach our boys how to fight in urban as well as desert areas, the only problem is that the instructors are idiots. RE: The economy - Maggot - 12-28-2010 The best general they had for that situation was fired last summer. Now there is a guy that will do whatever is politically correct. But I have alot of faith in the military underbelly to protect our people there and that is the most important thing. We have better equipment and smarter soldiers. I would like to see a better government there though and dividing the country and letting it become a north/south type of environment may be the best thing. Draw a line in the sand and protect the line. Put all the Taliban on one side and let them starve to death. But countries like Iran will try to help them. I say draw the line and hold it. That would give our soldiers a reason for being there. Then give the good side as much economic help as they can get, then let them prosper, look at north and south Korea. Which side is more economicaly sound? But I really hate being an armchair warrior, I am not there and do not really know what is best. I only see what the media lets me see and do not know the real hardships of that war and can only guess from all the other wars and their outcomes. RE: The economy - cladking - 12-28-2010 Let's see. Coffee prices are approaching a tripling in the last several years yet the price in the stores has not changed. This cuts almost across the board that wholesale prices are sharply higher yet retail prioces are nearly unchanged. This shows a few things. First and foremost and something no consumer should ever forget it shows how much money is being stolen from us by middlemen and retailers. If they can absorb a tripling of prices then we are being robbed blind. Another thing it shows is that this is a planned economy because retailers seek any reason to jack up prices and then they don't come back down for years. The only reason that prices haven't increased is because government doesn't want increases. Have you noticed that there was no inflation adjustment for social security this year. This is why youhaven't seen big increases because social security recipients would scream bloody murder to have sharply rising prices and no increase. Congress even lowered the amount workers have to pay in for social security. Watch out January 3rd. Expect everything up 10%. By the end of the year expect 40% higher prices. This will help to stabilize the economy but it's going to be hard on some people. It's going to be hard on some good companies and it's going to make some very very inefficient and wasteful companies much stronger. Your exact comment in post 47: I don't support a hasty withdrawal. And I said if your son or daughter was there, you might look at it differently. If you did, wouldn't you want them to come home before they had an arm or leg blown off by those fuckin IED's, or worse in body bag. It had nothing to do with whether you support our troops or not! As for political skulduggery, nothing can be put past politicians. It has been said that another possible reason other then for oil that GWB invaded Iraq was: Did Saddam Try to Kill Bush Sr.? Saturday October 23, 2004 Whenever discussing how awful Saddam Hussein is (something few if any people disagree with), George W. Bush has included the charge that Hussein tried to assassinate George H.W. Bush, former president and father of the George W. Some have even speculated that this played a role in his decision to invade Iraq. But is the charge true? Maybe.... RE: The economy - Carsman - 12-28-2010 Mother Nature is also helping to fuck up the economy! With many citrus and vegetable crops being frozen in the South this past week, & with floods in CA, the prices of fruits & vetgetables will surely skyrocket.
