It was important in accurately describing your posts as of late, imo. Yeah, I never offer up any discussion or mocks or insight - your claims are always spot on. Now, let's see if you can not respond or ask me a question; or if that's just more bullshit. Staying away... If you address me, I respond. It's considered polite. As for discussion and insight: you've often made it plain you don't consider any of your online interactions to be "real" or of any great importance to your life. "all in fun" is a phrase you enjoy using. So I ask you a two part question: if that's the case, why do you care what I think of your contribution or assume I should care what you think of mine? And second: if you're admittedly not being your "real self" here, why would I waste time and energy trying to interact with you on any deeper level than one-liners and barbs? RE: Hello all of you +1 or more people - HairOfTheDog - 07-08-2012 RE: Hello all of you +1 or more people - Donovan - 07-08-2012 Exactly my point. You interjected yourself into this conversation with a swipe at me, and when I turn my attention directly to your foolishness, you pretend I somehow trolled you in or that I'm the one being an ass. That is referred to as "passive aggressive" in case you were wondering. And when I asked you a direct question about your online interactions, your answer is a stock photo. Like the song lyrics and the rote responses, none of it is truly you. Talking to you online is like talking to a bot program or an undercover cop. Everything you say sounds rehearsed. And it bores me, sorry. Or the opposite, to really like someone? Gear? Thoughts? RE: Hello all of you +1 or more people - Donovan - 07-08-2012 I think it's possible to accurately assess a person's nature strictly through online interaction. We like to kid ourselves that what we write is somehow not an extension of us, but that's not the case. No one can hide their nature for that long a period, when the written word is the only representation of you and each word you type is a deliberate act of revealing your actual self. It is very easy to tell who is genuine online and who is not. And in rare cases, identify with and like someone almost immediately. Or dislike, as the case may be. RE: Hello all of you +1 or more people - Donovan - 07-08-2012 I never disliked you. I think you understand the basic principle of online interaction: in order to know someone, you have to get past the scripted responses and making them angry is about the quickest way to do it. Nothing is as honest as a heated response. As for who you are really, I think you are the philosopher in Plato's cave. You have educated yourself and learned to see the world as it really is and not just a bunch of meaningless shadows cast by the fire on the cave wall. However, when you try to explain the realities to people who still only see the shadows, they think you're nuts or a bitch. It has always been thus. But who cares what they think anyway, they're still staring at the shadows. I think you're funny by accident and frequently, because you say stuff that amuses you and sometimes the targets of your humor laugh without realizing they're the butt of the joke. I think you do not suffer fools gladly, which probably means no more marriages for you because we're all eventual idiots. There's more, but those are the things I admire in you and make me like you. And I don't dislike Sally for being a poser. She has led the safe life craved by most people. She's the rule, not the exception. Her hostility toward me stems from her deeply buried dissatisfaction at the drudgery of it and the fact that I pointed out what parts of her reality were simply flickering shadows. RE: Hello all of you +1 or more people - Cracker - 07-08-2012 I knew you liked me. So sally is basically a housecat? A mean one, too. (She scares me a little. But she's the only one. I think she might be a gypsy.) RE: Hello all of you +1 or more people - Donovan - 07-08-2012 Yeah pretty much. Women like her are tightly corked IRL which is why she comes here to rip into people. It's a pressure valve. They are a little bit scary. One reason I like soccer moms is that pent up sexual aggression. Find the right cork to pop and they explode in molten hot fury. It's like fucking an active volcano. Sure, you come away with scars sometimes but it's worth it. The worst part is trying to recork that bottle before they sneak into your house and boil your pet rabbit. You obviously craved that life too because you tried and failed. The reason you failed is because going to work and coming home to your spouse and children was drudgery to you. Longing to escape the stress of daily life you spent much of your time in bars with those middle aged bikers who you said have your back while attempting to be a tough guy. It's like an even worse version of the movie Wild Hogs. Unfortunately your tough biker friends are not going to be with you when you die a lonely old man. RE: Hello all of you +1 or more people - Donovan - 07-08-2012 Missed wide right. Not even close. But thanks for playing.Drinkers bore me. Drudges more me. My ex bored me. I'm not one to overstay my welcome. But the beauty of being attracted to emotionally damaged soccer moms is that they're like city buses. There's another one along every few minutes. Nope, you said yourself that when you get in hot water your old biker friends have your back. What exactly is this trouble you're always getting yourself in? It also sounds like your little brother is following in your footsteps, lets hope he doesn't have a wife. Or the opposite, to really like someone? This one's kind of all over the place. Is it possible? Yes. Either option. Is this a simple reliable scale accurate in all or even most situations? I'd say no. I'm going to use Donovan as an example because we've interacted for quite awhile - He and I have similar interests. His approach is intelligent. He's a father. He's never admitted to being a 'believer'. These attributes are things I prefer in men I interact with at any depth or for any length of time. It's a simple matter of basic compatibility. If Donovan was a christian I'd know right away that there's a good sized portion of who he is intellectually that I'm not willing to invest in. So arms distance would be about all I'd be willing to offer. Same in RL. Maybe two arms. BTAIM There only so close you can get to a person online. There an awful lot of biochemical info that isn't available when you can't see and smell a person standing in front of you. It's possible Donovan and I would have a sniff of each other and decide "Fuck this guy". Who knows? 'Net is minds connecting in a way they never have before. The science in in it's infancy and the long term implications have yet to be seen IMO. Some minds get along. Some don't. I think that's about the best we can do in this format.
