I was adding an "s" to my post, because I'm just slightly anal, and it posted the an SQL error message (a long one) instead of my edit. Then it automatically fixed itself.
Hal is alive and well at Mock. haha

You might like to call me a DB but you contradicted yourself by mentioning a "tribalistic social dynamic". Keep going and I will throw down the gauntlet and ask you to back up what you are saying with some facts.

It is a social phenonmena that has more to do with tribalism and money and land and greed than it does with whatever respective savior or martyr. The major tribes broke into the major religions. It is all based on geography and ethnicity and linguistics. I offer the Great Schism as an example of this fact. It wasn't just about leavening in the bread and the body of Christ. Religious groups ARE modern-day tribes.

[/quote] I make sure I live on the side of town with the least amount of apartments and low-income housing. Usually I can avoid people who behave like they were raised by wolves, but not at the movies. Everybody goes to the movie theater in town. And Walmart.

I don't hold anyone's race, creed, color against them. I look at them as people. I know racists and I'm pretty sure they are racist because that's how they were raised, chances are if you come from parents who hate blacks, Jews, etc., then you will probably hate them too and you won't be able to give a reason why. I tested that theory & the person got pissed at ME for putting her on the spot...of course rolling my eyes right in her face didn't help. That's my MO, roll eyes, say, Jesus Christ.

I have Mere Christianity (one of my fav books). Anything of any intellligence that can be said regarding God has already been said by C.S. Lewis. I also hold a degree from a Baptist university, along with the obligatory 10 full hours of religious study. I was also raised in a Christian home (Methodist). Oh, and I live in the Bible Belt. I have been exposed.
My finding: Organized religion was made by man and is mostly bullshit. It has very little to do with an actual Creator and has more to do with making people pay money and do what the official rule book says. I can't get behind that. That people pretend they have any concept of a being/mind that created this universe when they can't even understand the most basic of its systems and rules is the supreme exercise in arrogance. The only religious nut I would listen to at this point would have to have a PhD in Quantum Mechanics. They would at least have a clue. I also don't have any sympathy for the hoardes of stupid, non-productive citizens (who would be described as "the weak" in Biblical terms) in this country. Most of what constitutes intelligence is familial. It is cultivated through early infant/childhood experience and is increased in relation to parental care and effort. We are a nation of fucking stupid people because most parents are stupid now and are raising stupid children. They are imposing an intellectual cap on their offspring by not learning through experience and formal education, choosing instead to hang out around the crib and play video games. I apologize for neither sentiment. Rather than claiming I have a generalized feeling of good will gained from some outside source, I have formed my opinions based on what I have encountered and have seen to be true. If people would like to change my mind, quit raising stupid fucking kids, quit building church buildings and paying clergy waaaay too much for their charitable works with the tithe money you collect, and stop talking so fucking loud at the movies. Those are my demands.

From a report on the Head Start program, an pre-kindergarten program for impoverished children:
Head Start provides comprehensive services for children from low-income families, aged three to five. The program is administered by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Grants are awarded to public or private non-profit agencies by ACF Regional Offices and the Head Start Bureau’s American Indian and Migrant Programs Branches. The community has to match twenty percent of the program cost. According to information provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Head Start programs are tailored to the local needs of the participating children and the community served. However, all Head Start programs must focus on: education nutrition socio-economic development physical and mental health parental involvement White children who participated in Head Start were 47% less likely to repeat a grade later in elementary school when compared to their siblings who did not attend the program. African American children were found to lose benefits gained from Head Start faster than white children and, by age 10, they retained no gains, while white children still retained an overall gain of five percentage points. WTH?

It doesn't matter what society tries to do for people, it is a waste of money. We can NEVER overcome the fucked up influence of a bad upbringing by bad parents. Every single social problem can be traced back to the home. Every single one. Even schools can't overcome the problem children sent from the ghettos and trailer parks because 80% of what you are and what you know and how you think and behave come FROM THE HOME.
You cannot blame society for your failings any longer. I don't accept the blame. My kids are fabulous.

I'm oblivious to much that doesn't concern me so reading some of this has been an education in itself so, no I'm not sick of it. |
