Actually, most people can't do it because it means you are out here on your own with nobody on which to blame things and nobody to beg. Those thoughts raise an unholy fear in most people, so they find one religion or another.

This life is enough. I like my life now and have liked most of it up to this point. There were a few bad times, entirely my own fault, but I lived through it. I don't need streets paved in gold to make this life worthwhile.

If we taxed churches, we wouldn't have any budget problems.

Most churches have foodbanks. Certainly you dont expect them to house the homeless too?

IMO, the only "churches", and I use that term loosely..that abuse the system are the Evangelical asshats that have the TV shows with the wealthy scam artists..err, I mean Pastors.

Churches do a bunch of that. Problem with that in Georgia: Many of the religious nuts are poor because they are waiting for God to send them a winning Lotto ticket.

The poorer you are, the more devout you are. Religion is rather codependent. I think that's why churches do so much missionary work in really poor countries. It allows rednecks to be wealthy by comparison.

I was saying that 'tongue in cheek'. I do know that the church I attend contributes an awful lot to the community, not just my local community, but to the poorer parts of Minneapolis.

Televangelists are the bane of Christians the world over. They prey on the poor and stupid. If there truly is a 'Hell' they'll end up there.

People look at religion as a handicap, I look at religion as a crutch. An athiest will sit in a cell and eat their own feet. A religious person will die before doing the same. The reason? They believe. Smiley_emoticons_smile Faith is stronger than isolation. But don't take my word for it. Just continue your life journey, in the end you will remember, and even then it will not be to late.

Anybody can believe in anything they want. I believe in a higher authority. I am meek in that aspect. Imagine, believing in that! I don't really debate religion. Who the hell would care how someone else chooses to worship? It's no one's business. I really do abhor those that involve themselves in the business of others. Pay attention to what's going on in your own house, your own life and mind your own fuckin' business.

I don't ever care what others do as long as it doesn't effect me & my life.

That is so true...except all my friends aren't heathens.
