Hi. This is awkward. I found this site after searching for a new Crime Sleuthing Community that doesn't delete 80% of my posts. (btw, they were legit posts, written after hours spent "investigating" as my husband calls it ,googling, etc.) I dont like rules. I know you have some but highly doubt, after reading some things on here, that this site is as strict. Thats all.

What the fuck is wrong with these creepy crime people?

I read the news. I don't spend hours googling it, though. I let people like LC gather the information and present it. I can see posting one or two comments about certain crimes that interest you, but getting caught up in it and spending hours of your life doing it (if you aren't a detective) is just fucking nuts.

I would bitch slap my wife if I came home from work and found her sitting in a dirty house googling about other people's misfortune.

I don't get it either. I try not to look in there too much because the stories about child abuse disturb me way too much. There is nothing I can do about it so I'd rather not even know about it.

Cracker and Sally, people not "on the job" sometimes get caught up to their detriment. i've seen it, where they are so involved they forget real life. their real life. the casey trial is an example. they let their lives go by the wayside because it is real-life soap opera. just as riveting. horror by vicarious "participation". and the miss marple syndrome.
i'm not criticizing them, but i have seen them get way too involved for their own health. you make good points. Smiley_emoticons_wink

I really think it is a symptom of a mental disorder for some and a hobby for others. The amount of time you spend on it a day may be the deciding factor.

Quite the opposite, I come home and find my husband playing x-box in a dirty house. I should bitch slap him. I cook dinner, clean up, put my kids to bed, then see whats going on in the news. When something local happens, I'm interested. Its my hobby.
