I believe Dick and I have stated clearly we believe that your decision not to own a firearm at this time to be an irresponsible choice. Having small children is no excuse for not owning a weapon. There are many safety devices on the market today that make that argument specious: trigger locks, gun safes and lock boxes can secure any weapon and its ammunition from children or teens.

I believe Dick and I have also clearly stated our opinion that to not educate your children on gun safety is feckless. Children want what they can’t have; by allowing them access to weapons on a regular basis takes away any mystery, teaches responsibility and real life lessons. Many studies have been performed that show the violence in video games has desensitized kids today toward their decisions and ultimate actions.

I believe Dick and I have pointed out the rise in violence in this country. If you think you are safe, you had better rethink your position. No one in this country is immune from violence, no one. The statistics show the areas of this country that put restrictions on gun ownership are the areas with the highest crime rates, but the areas with high gun ownership have the least crime. I wonder why?

All we are saying is hope you will never need a weapon, but you had better be ready in case you do. The old adage “Police investigate crimes, not prevent them” is something to remember. If God forbid something did happen to your children wouldn’t you try to protect them?

I think violent video games, violent lyrics and the loss of a moral compass has created a pandoras box of problems with todays kids. Guns can teach respect but only in the right hands. I would rather not see guns in houses that hide them and keep them locked away from children without teaching them how to respect and handle them at a young age. The kids that get no gun education are the ones that end up getting shot.
