A Feltonville neighborhood is on high alert after a man kidnapped a little girl and raped her and it happened in the middle of the night.

A 9 year old girl said she woke up in the middle of the night only to see a naked man standing in her room. The man then carried her out of the house and down a back alley where he sexually assaulted her. He then released her about an hour and a half later in front of the Feltonville Elementary school.

The 9 year old girl made her way back to her D street house after the incident.

Police say they were able to fingerprint a van found in an alley on the 4600 block of Rosehill Street.

Some are confused on how the attacker go into the house without forcing entry.

Police say the girl has a history of sleepwalking. Her parents heard her screams but couldn't find her in time.

The beating death of a Texas man who was allegedly sexually assaulting a 5-year-girl will be treated as a homicide investigation, the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The girl’s father, 23, whose name has not been released, says he caught Jesus Mora Flores, 48, trying to molest his daughter on his ranch earlier this month. After hearing the girl scream, the father found her and removed Flores from on top of his child, the statement said. He proceeded to inflict several blows to Flores’ head and neck area, the statement said.

"At this time, I believe the homicide investigation should be sent to the grand jury," Heather McMinn, the Lavaca County District Attorney, said in the statement. She went on to say the sheriff was correct not to arrest the father at the time of the incident, but "all evidence surrounding this homicide will be presented to the grand jury as soon as possible."

Sheriff Micah Harmon, according to the statement, believes the girl’s father is remorseful, and did not intend to kill Flores. He called the case "traumatizing" for the girl and her entire family.

The victim was an "acquaintance" of the father who visited the ranch to help care for some horses, according to Harmon, adding he did not know how long the men may have known each other prior to the alleged incident.

A witness told law enforcement that Flores was seen forcibly carrying the girl to a secluded area, the statement said. When the girl’s dad found out, he began calling her name, and when he heard her screams, he moved in. WHO WOULDN'T HAVE KILLED THIS FILTH??

When emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, Flores’ pants and underwear were down, and his genitals were exposed, the statement said. All the witnesses' statements corroborated the father’s story, the release said.

Flores had a green card and the sheriff’s office has been working with the Mexican Consulate to locate his family, The Gonzales Inquirer reported.

Police say a 6-year-old girl who was found dead in a West Jordan canal Tuesday morning was sexually assaulted and murdered.

“Our investigators were up at the Medical Examiner’s Office and they conducted an autopsy this morning. We just barely received word that this has been officially ruled a homicide. They also found evidence of a sexual assault,” said Sgt. Drew Sanders, West Jordan Police Department.

Sierra Newbold was reported as a missing child at 7:45 a.m. Neighbors and police searched the neighborhood near 2300 W and 7905 S. A West Jordan officer found Sierra in a canal near her home.

Officers placed crime scene tape around the neighborhood and went door-to-door asking neighbors if they saw or heard anything unusual. Police sought a number of warrants in connection with their investigation.

Police said they were also looking at surveillance video around Sierra’s home to aid their investigation.

“Our contacts at the FBI have been helping us with that. They’ve been working on enhancing that [surveillance video]. Right now, we do know that there are images on there and our investigators are analyzing that and trying to determine what use those are and if any evidence exists,” Sanders said.

Police say they have evidence that the incident was isolated and they have not made any arrests in connection with the case.

One of the reasons I could never be a cop, I would break down all the time having to handle these types of cases. I actually did apply once years ago, my brother had just become a P.C, then I decided to visit my Grandma for a few months and that was 11 years ago

This is so incredibly sad, such a adorable little girl. I am thinking that this is a neighbor, and probably a teenage kid, or someone without a car. Someone had to know which room was hers and they left her close to home. Most killers who take the victim from the scene, take them far away and to an isolated place- not just down the block. Too risky. My heart goes out to this family. I hope who ever committed this crime is found quickly and dealt with to the fullest extent the law allows.

WEST JORDAN — While police say their investigation into the killing of a 6-year-old girl is continuing, they have released no new information for several days.

Worried residents in Sierra Newbold's West Jordan neighborhood say their street hasn't been the same since the young girl's body was discovered.

"We're all nervous around here. There's a lot of children and now you don't see them out here playing like they used to and everyone is afraid to let their kids out," neighbor Lana Spencer said.

Sierra's body was found in a canal near her home on June 25. No one has been arrested nor any suspects named in the case.

At her home, a pile of teddy bears placed in her honor remained outside the house on Thursday. Pink and purple ribbons put up by neighbors dotted the street. Those were the child's favorite colors.

Jez, my mom worked in the sex crimes & child abuse unit for a few years (cle, oh). She has told me of one time especially where the young girl had been sexually, emotionally & mentally abused and after the short time my mom spent with her...interviewing her, that kind of stuff, my mom gave the little girl a hug goodbye and the girl told her "i love you"

Eventually she said she just had to leave that unit.

Your mum must be a strong lady to do that, i cannot imagine how hard it would be, big thanks to your mum for doing one of the hardest jobs. It's bittersweet about that child, just in that short time it seems your mum must have helped her a lot, for this child to be able to say 'i love you' after what she endured says a lot about the child and your mum.

I have always wanted to do something to help children who have no one, to give them some of the love and attention they deserve but I honestly think it would break my heart each and every day.

SALT LAKE CITY – A man has been arrested in the death a 6-year-old Utah girl after authorities say he sneaked into her home through a sliding glass door in the middle of the night, then raped and killed the child.

Terry Lee Black, 41, has been charged with aggravated murder, kidnapping and rape of a child, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said Tuesday.

Police in West Jordan, about 15 miles south of Salt Lake City, say Sierra Newbold's body was found June 26 in a canal near her home.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the child's mother last saw her at about 10:30 p.m. the night before. On the morning of June 26, the woman told police she noticed a sliding glass door in the family's home was open and the girl wasn't in her bed.

Officers reviewed a recording made by a home security camera and found that someone had entered the house at 3:05 a.m. The recording also showed someone leaving the house at 3:13 apparently carrying something, Fox13 reported.

Authorities mounted a search and soon found the girl's pink pajamas and undergarments in a field a short distance away from the home, according to court documents.

Her body was then found floating face down in a nearby canal. An autopsy revealed the girl was sexually assaulted and strangled but the official cause of death was drowning.

Black was arrested on June 29 on suspicion of car theft and bank robbery.

Authorities said alert police officers then noticed Black lived in an apartment near the canal where the young girl's body was found, and that debris on his clothing appeared similar to debris found in the field where the child's clothing was discovered.

Gil said Newbold's DNA was then found on Black's body. He remained held Tuesday on $2 million bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Police say Black was a transient who lived in and out of the Newbolds' neighborhood. He had an extensive criminal history, but only one lewdness charge within the last few years, Fox13 reported.

Police say David Brian Armstrong, 33, and Danielle Armstrong, 22, had sex with the victim as well as forced the child to perform oral sex on David Armstrong in their Alton home.

The two were arrested after the victim told her grandmother what happened to her, who in turn notified police. News of the crime has shaken up the Saint Louis, Missouri suburb.

Lieutenant Scott Golike told the MailOnline that nothing like this incident has ever happened on his watch. 'It's a horrible crime,' Lieutenant Golike said.

Both Armstrongs were charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Danielle Armstrong was charged with 'committing an act of sexual penetration' and placing her mouth on the child's genitals.

Authorities say that David Armstrong also penetrated the girl, in addition to forcing the child to perform oral sex.
