A twist on prosecuting a Self-Defense claim in my Grand Canyon State (beginning in 2006):

"The 2006 law shifted the burden of proof in cases where people charged with a crime are claiming self-defense.

I still think at this point the prosecution has done nothing but shown Travis hasn't had a violent temper towards any past girlfriends. she got up on the stand and that prosecutor is going to tear her apart. I will give that Jodi seems to have her dates down so far on things but I can't wait till the prosecutor gets a hold of her, I hope he does his job. it is interesting to know about the change in law. so what does that mean exactly?

also to me if she had all this "abuse" from the years past and if an expert gets up there and says well when Travis attacked her she feared for her life and she killed him. I'm not going to believe her, she left all those other abusive situations and knew when to leave those situations. She has had a lot of time to talk to people and accumulate stories of what domestic abuse is and how you would react etc. I'm not saying everyone was spanked as a kid and I know my parents did and did far worse than hers did and I didn't kill anyone. what is very scary about this is that Jodi, and I've said this before, reminds me of my adopted sister. I've even had my mom watch the trial or look at a picture to confirm it and she agreed. at first I didn't know how old Jodi was it freaked out my mom because when my mom adopted my sister at a young age she was told my sister was a twin but the twin "died". the birth mom was not trust worthy and that there was a possibility that the twin is alive and in another state, anyways that is how close they look alike and the mannerisms are of these two. needless to say it isn't a possibility because Jodi isnt the same age as my sister but as I'm watching the trial it is like I'm watching my sister at times and it's creepy. I agree with you 100% that Jodi is psycho and she completely is inappropriate with her emotions.

InSession has the transcript of the closed door meetings that took place after court ended last week.

According to their reports, Jodi Arias is now claiming that on the date of the killing, she was first assaulted by Travis Alexander as soon as she arrived at his house. So much for the story of first being assaulted upon dropping his camera after having consensual sex.

Jodi's brand new twist:
She surprised Travis when she showed up at his house and found him pleasuring himself to pornographic pictures of little boys which were sprawled out all over his bed. So now Travis was a pedo, though Jodi just spent hours on end testifying that he was a dogged woman-chaser.

Hey Jodi, minor detail: investigation reports indicate that there was no child pornography found in his home or on his computer.

Wish I was gonna be home this afternoon to watch the trial; court resumes in about an hour.

I am really pissed that the defense is going to put her family in the court room, especially her dad who is sick and her brother while she is on the stand going through her stupid ass stories while she is going to stand up there saying that travis called her family nasty names. Her dad nor her bother have not been in the court room one single day and today they come, today is the day she talks she claims travis talked shit about her dad and her brother. This boils my blood, that is a nasty move because she claims how hard it is to say these things in front of her mother, her father and her brother.... then don't bring them! Hotd- i agree she is scrambling and doesn't make any sense. Also when i was listening to her stories before about being attacked the pictures didn't line up about the camera being dropped so he attacked me or it could have been that the reporting by HLN was jumbling it up but either way there is so many stories out there it's ridiculous at this point. Anyone who would be looking at that type of stuff would have something somewhere. I agree that it was very weird that her father and brother attended trial for the first time on the very day she testified about Alexander insulting them. Seemed like a calculated move to garner jury sympathy to me too, heartbreaker. I didn't get to watch the trial this afternoon to see if/how the family reacted.

Oh i remember now about the computer forensic analyst and when she was cross examined he asked her a question about discussing a deposition back when the computer was searched originally and about if there was any porn found back then and she said no then and that she would have had to stick with that answer back then. In response to how her family responded, her father just stared straight ahead but her brother put his head down and in his hands at another time.

The court is waiting to start today, she is in chambers with the judge and attorneys and the prosecutors has come out to talk to Travis's family and they are saying on In Session that it is probably to warn the family of what is to come. Maybe it is to warn them of the details that are either to be played on the sex tape or about to be discussed with the killing. Either way this can't be easy for them to sit through and listen.

The way i understand it, so far, is that it wasn't the night of the incident either. Or if it was that she drove home. Maybe she will have decided to come back in the early morning hours and that is where the story will join back up with what actually happened? I don't know. The thing that disturbs me and that has been said over and over on In Session is that if she truly did find him masturbating to pictures of little boys, which i doubt, she wanted and professed to want to marry him and have children with him. If you want to have children with him you are not able to choose if you have a boy or girl and its a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of having a boy, and if he has a liking to little boys, that is an issue. Even if she thought she could "help" him there is no taking that desire out of his mind like that even with all the "help" she could give him, she's not a professional. That is just sick in my mind. I don't believe it.

Also just something to think about with the little boy underwear i am not accepting it but there are ALOT of underwear out there that are meant to look like boys underwear but for girls and they are tiny. I have a pair that i bought myself, from a place called voodoo donuts and they look just like it. i bought them because of what they say on them, it says all good things come in pink boxes. My point though is that places like Spencers and Hot Topic though sell underwear that have all kinds of novelty underwear. How do we know that they didn't have a Spider-man thing between them or that she didn't like Spider-man or that he didn't?

I listened to some of it last night. Typical phone sex stuff between young people in lust; recounting their sexual experiences, sharing fantasies, pumping each others' egos, masturbating... When Travis told her he'd like to tie her to a tree and fuck her in the ass, she was so offended that she replied, "that sooo debasing, I like it!". Very telling response, imo.

She was so into that call; squealing, baby talk, singing... No way did she sound like an unwilling participant or someone trying to please an abusive ex-boyfriend.

I think playing that recorded call for the jury benefitted the prosecution way more than it did the defense. It contradicted a lot of Jodi's testimony about her discomfort with the sexual aspect of their relationship. Guessing that the defense only played it to prove that Travis could be freaky and as an attempt to support their claim that Travis had pedo fantasies via his comment about her sounding like a 12 year old having her first orgasm (or something to that effect).

So, as of yesterday, Jodi's painted Travis as a religious fraud, a cheater, a rapist who liked to have sex with her while she slept, a cruel and controlling boyfriend, a woman beater, a wannabe pedo, a scammer who borrowed her very last dime... What's left?

Hoping today is the day that we finally hear about the killing itself.

I got to listen to a very limited edited version that HLN played. they did it piece by piece and then put those pieces together. it lost the point of the phone call, I really felt like I was listening to a teenager talking to a boyfriend and was excited about talking to him about things and he was being macho about laying claim about no other guy laying claim to her. I don't mean macho in a bad way just don't want to explain it all out as I know a couple people are following this and should know what I mean. it was sad, weird to hear his voice for the first time but I also had to keep in mind they had to clean up that call on his side so much that I don't think that was really how he sounded. the expert for the phone/forensics said the quality was really bad/poor and had to be cleaned up so I wonder if that had anything to do with the sound or inflictions of his voice. her voice is very clear and as you stated squeaky and excited.it is clear she sounds very willing and full of ideas of things to do and also contradicts herself that on the stand she stated Travis never paid attention to her in public or something along those lines. on the phone call she said that Travis always grabs her butt in public to prove a point to someone else and he said something along the lines of no I don't but I definitely do it to prove a point to someone else. and the. she comments that she loves when he does it.

the trial has started and I don't know why Jodi isn't back on the stand another witness is on, sky hues(spelling). I don't understand how they do things at this court. sometimes jury questions have been asked, half way through sometimes at the end. sometimes witnesses are at switched out half way through, it doesnt make sense to me. I understand if someone comes from out of town, like an expert witness that needs to be slipped in so that it can be taken care of for cost purposes but what I don't understand is why sky hues is being put on the stand now. ohhhh I guess the jury isn't in the room, maybe this is going to the misconduct of the prosecution that the defense is alleging I thought this was over and done with, my goodness. I wonder if today is the day that we hear the story, what does this make the third or fourth story for how travis died.

also on a sidenote my boyfriend has told me on numerous occasions if I ever felt the need to wake him and have sex with him I was more than welcome to. I am sure if I decided to give him oral sex he wouldn't care either. the fact that she is complaining or is she? I guess she is mentioning it and the her attorney asked did you tell him you wanted him to do that while you were sleeping and she said we didn't discuss it? but she didn't tell him to stop either when she woke up as she stated. I just don't know someone who is woken up to something like that and is like no don't do that when they are in a relationship with that person.

omg the defense is now stating they are asking for a mistrial, I don't know how many requests for mistrial this makes now but: "now that we know there are no more surprise witnesses from prosecution for the misconduct of the prosecution I'll get to the argument now" just now they are getting to argument, I swear I'll flip out if she gets a mistrial. who knows how long this will take, I thought she said last week shell take all this undr advisement meaning this was taken care of/resolved. defense is crying because prosecution has yelled at witnesses and thrown evidence on ground... defense has raised his voice even at Jodi. I know several trials that have done the very same thing, it's courtroom theatrics, IMO.
