If it's campaign fundraising then it makes sense. If it isn't then only the stupidest of the stupid will go for it. Given the timing and his decision to run again, I guess it's fundraising. I suspect that hasn't been going well for him so he's foregoing the more traditional methods. Next he'll rebrand himself as a born-again Christian.

When he came out and said he had a major announcement the following day so many people were expressing an opinion of what they thought it might be, some thought he was announcing a running mate, others thought he might try to go for Speaker of the House, and it went on & on. When his major announcement consisted of those trading cards, much of the world laughed. I'm still laughing whenever I scroll by another picture of the cards. So damn funny.

It's half assed this time and he's lost most, if not all, of his big dollar donors. I think on some level he understands it just isn't going to happen for him again. It's doubtful he'll get the nomination and if he does, chances are he will lose to Biden again and I really don't think he wants that. Altho, I was dead wrong when I said he wouldn't run again.
