We are currently moderate to severe and have been under a red flag warning for the past 2 weeks or so.   Lots of wildfires around.  Good morning America compared our area to cali  in reference to the wildfires.

Same here. I get warnings on my phone everyday. Wildfires aren't something people normally worry about here.

Hope it doesn’t last (for fires and daily living). Our several year drought ended last year but it was so bad for a time…I was shutting off my shower while I soaped up and then restarting it (just for example). And definitely thinking we were going to have to tear out our lawns and plant cactus or something.

I’m sure drought conditions will return in the not distant future.

We had our first freeze overnight and I have zero tolerance these days for either extreme hot or extreme cold (and extreme cold for me is below 60 degrees, lol). Last year I spent the entire winter cold ?. Not doing that this year. I’ve been buying fleece lined everything (from long John’s to sweats to jackets). I finally bought a down jacket yesterday. I’m not fucking around this year.

What I WANT to do is make more travel/vacation plans based on climate (climate chase). Still have a potential family reunion in Florida in February but I’d like to do something sooner than that. Similarly when it hits 100 degrees here in the summer; I want to be elsewhere for a couple of weeks at least.

Woa.

The agencies are lighting the burn piles in the area. One is really huge. Maybe I'll go get a pic of it.

I honestly don't think our area is as bad as Cali right now.  All the wildfires that pop up are contained within a day or 2.  This isn't even the worst drought I've seen, a few years ago the river out behind my houses went down to muck.
The issue is all the dried leaves on the ground right now.  Dried leaves are like gasoline in this area.

60 today, lined sweats, a long sleeve shirt and a fuzzy jacket. hah

I’m not cold but not hot either.

I pay for being a skinny bitch in the winter. I have no natural packing on me. Smiley_emoticons_slash

I just realized that my normal weather for this time of the year, is totally fucked up.    We didn't really have a hot summer, but October and November have been warmer than usual.  I'm still running around barefoot and wearing t-shirts, normally I'd be wearing slippers and sweatshirts by now hah

I spoke to soon.   From all the emergency alerts, Facebook posts and scanner chatter it feels like half the state is on fire right now.  Most of the fire departments around me are volunteer/per diem departments and they are stretched so thin they are begging for fire strike teams from Canada, Maine and Vermont.  There's a huge one about 10 miles south of me that started last night and is still going strong now.  I just got a prepare for possible evacuation order.  There's 2 rivers between me and the fire, so fingers crossed that it doesn't jump the rivers.   Drought + dry leaves + a wind that won't fucking die down makes for a perfect storm, I guess.

well, yeah, on the coast. Satellite images of it look pretty cool. I guess it is like a cat 2 hurricane in comparison. I mean high wind storms are pretty typical in WA especially this time of year.
I am inland and getting mostly rain, no snow, some wind. Family members closer to the coast have power outages and trees down.

We got an inch of rain in an hour yesterday, I was supposed to be on my bike but stopped for lunch.

If we get an inch of rain in an hour where I work we are in trouble. Risk of landslide from the fires last summer.

It rained all night. When they said come again another day, well today is that day.
