There is no mud around my home, so we have a mat. Shoes or not, your choice. Roomba takes care of the rest most days. I take my shoes and pants off as soon as I get home, but it doesn't have anything to do with the floors.

I'm more concerned with keeping food and drink at the table and making sure my dog realizes it's MY house.
