Only a moron doesn't want more or to be the best they can be. I don't feel sorry for any of them. They all have the right to make choices.
That's true but do keep in mind that a systemic past and culture of being less-thans really goes a long way to breed morons. It's hard to make good choices when you have an abundance of terrible role models and a lack of family life that traces back many generations.
I'm not making excuses for current people, I am saying many are going to have extreme difficulties compared to the groups you and I come from.
