I just bought a LED Par38 flood light, package touts it as the same light as a 75 watt flood light but only uses 13.5 watts. The damn thing actually does that, I was amazed. It was $30, but 4 months ago it was $39, so its getting better. This is part of an experiment I am working on, going solar one step at a time. Its going to be a bit of a tap dance, $$ in on "stuff" to do it with, pv panels, light bulbs, storage batteries and controller. Based against the savings in electric bill over the life of the "stuff"
All that business about the 100 watt incandescent light bulb came from studies that is a juice waster and THE most prolific one out there. Theoretically if it goes away to be replaced by CFLs it will save the world and create world peace. But, people being people, they don't want the govt telling them what light bulb to use.
