Thanks for the reply, Dick. I admire your commitment to children and right to life. I see where you're coming from. I have some differing opinions, but I love children too and wish that every pregnancy was desired and positive. Unfortunately, that's not reality, and there are issues such as the parents' rights to live a lifestyle of their choosing, high cost of providing health services to women who would be compelled to adopt out if abortion wasn't an option, cost of government funding for families who have children when they don't have the means to support them (yet won't adopt them out), etc..
So, I too am sorry if I don't sound touchy feely when I consider economics as a big part of the equation when evaluating very personal and social issues. Doesn't mean I'm not concerned about the personal aspects. Rather, it's just natural for me to look at cost and trade-offs in forming my opinions - in the same manner that it's natural for you to consider your commitments and faith in forming yours, I suspect.
