Could it just simply mean 'tow'? From where?
God(s) only know(s).
The language changed utterly in 2000 BC. Before this time words took their meaning from how they were ordered. The language was like computer code and after this words took their meaning from context. Very few words were needed when computer code was spoken but now we try to paint a picture in someone else's mind with our words. Each listener takes away his own meaning. When ancient meaning wasn't understood the listener knew it and the words had no sense to them.
The word for "tow" is unlikely to have changed much immediately after the change. Anyone reading the ancient writing would recognize the word after the change.
Utterance 256.
301a. To say: N. has inherited Geb; N. has inherited Geb.
The king after cremation atop the pyramid has become the earth.
301b. He has inherited Atum; he is upon the throne of Horus, the eldest.
The king has become the geyser and is upon the ben ben (or in this case an extension of it; the pyramid).
301c. His eye is his might; his protection consists in that which was done to him.
Horus' eye is the opening through which the water sprays and provides the king's might.
302a. The heat of the flaming breath of his uraeus-serpent
The flamimg breath is an element of the sun; carbon dioxide (which they called "risings begetter"). The Uraeus-serpent is the leak of CO2 that is symbolically adopted as an ornament for the king as protection.
302b. is like that of the Rnn-wt.t-serpent on his forehead.
This is the Goddess Renennutet which is a void in the Upper Eye of Horus (which allows water to be collected) which funnels CO2 to the nearby "fire-pan". This signalling device is known as the tri lobed bowl and is displayed just inside the Cairo Museum. Incredibly this object is what sat in the chest of Anubis who directed pyramid building atop the pyramid. It was found in the 3200 BC tomb of Sabu and might well be the origin of the "ark of the covenant". The device burned oil on top of the water so long as the geyser sprayed and the Renennutet helped keep it afloat. This object is the root for the word "God" in all western languages. If it burned in the morning then the pyramid builders put on their clothes and went to work. During the day the Nbht-sceptre sat nearby in the mehet weret cow and waved brightly painted boards signalling water flow.
302c. N. has put his fear in their heart,
This was within the ram portals which held people back. The area was dangerous due to possible CO2 concentration.
302d. in making a massacre among them.
The careless could die (especially at night).
303a. The gods saw (it) disrobed,
Unintelligible.
303b. and they bowed themselves before N. in homage (saying):
Unintelligible.
303c. "His mother conducts him; his home-town tows him;
Unintelligible. But likely a reference to Isis the Goddess of the counterweight who tows the king as the stones to build. It was an honor to get one of the few jobs on the pyramid and they were awarded based on the home-towns of those who had made advancements in the past. A lot of jobs were associated with tending the counterweight so perhaps these were awarded to the king's hometown.
303d. Hai, let go thy rope."
Unintelligible.
Many utterances break down especially near the end. There might be some pattern I've not deduced yet that the ending defines something.
This is the only use of the word in the PT.
Things written after 2000 BC like "Osiris in his name of Seker tows the earth by means of balance" are very easy because they simply mean exactly what they say. The older material is more difficult because meaning is derived from word order.
