Death penalty for crime other than murder?

I have some issues with the death penalty. I absolutely think there are crimes that some should pay for with their life but those in charge make too many mistakes for me to be comfortable with it across the board. How many times have we read of people being set free because new evidence has come to light or DNA has freed them after years behind bars. That makes me very uncomfortable, oops, we killed the wrong person.

You make a good point, there have been quite a few miscarriages of justice in the UK over the years and back in the day they would have been hanged. Luckily we have DNA evidence now which means there should be less and less cases of this happening in the future.
We need to punish the French, ignore the Germans and forgive the Russians - Condoleezza Rice.
