I noticed that my state lost 7 hate groups from the time I read the OP to the time I clicked your link. We kicked a couple to Tiki and sally and the rest over to ramsey.
Seriously, it's a lot of hate on either map and while the number of groups may differ a bit, the rankings of "most hate groups" per state is probably the same. I'd guess the rankings are directly proportionate to the total population, with maybe a couple of exceptions like Arkansas where I think the population is relatively low but the number of classified hate groups is relatively high (due to its historical KKK hotbed and "patriot" group offshoots, probably).
In general, the more people in a state, the more hateful people/groups in a state?
