I was in my car after dropping off my oldest son at school.
It was 8:30am CDT, and I hadn't been watching/listening to the news earlier, but now had the car radio on. As I'm listening someone is saying, "and now there's a report that the Pentagon has been hit."
Got home and turned on the TV. Saw the images, called my dad and grandmother. I remember feeling like our way of life was ending. I'm glad I was wrong.
All air traffic that morning was told to land immediately. I had gone outside and remember seeing airlines (most likely headed to CHI) that I'd never seen land at MSP.
I really wanted to visit Ground Zero last year. As an American I felt compelled to get there and extend my condolences. They've really created a beautiful memorial.
On another note, Paul Simon's performance a few years back of 'Sound Of Silence' at GZ was the perfect tribute.
