I wouldn't care how depressed I am I couldn't be that selfish to hurt my parents or children in that way. So to me it's weak. I can't imagine what it would do to my loved ones to find me hanging in the bathroom. Well besides for my husband, he might be happy about it.

The brain of a severely depressed person doesn't use logic or reasoning, e.g., that would really hurt everyone (except maybe my husband) and so, you are a selfish, weak individual. The severely depressed brain doesn't process information that way. The brain only recognizes deep despair and hopelessness, which overpowers willful action. For mild/moderate depression, the use of anti-depressants have been mostly successful. Some refer to a chemical imbalance and the medications help stabilize this imbalance...
*"you" in a general sense....
