The thing is in a depressed brain, and people who I have talked to over the years, it makes sense for them. Even though it doesn't make sense, and that stage of suicidal ideation brain then goes onto even come up with a plan, which can lead to self harm or suicide. It's not normal, it's not a normal thinking pattern, that is why it is called a mental illness. When people are that unwell, and that ill, they justify doing it with all sorts of reasons, "my family don't need me" "they would be better off without me", or they are so unwell they can't even think of anyone elses feelings, they are so consumed with the depression. It is a dark place, those that are prone to the illness usually have help in place or know to present to the hospital and get help. Because it is not normal. I often think that it is those who are not aware of what mental illness is really that confuse that state with being a valid logical place. Those who have been ill before and survived usually know how to reach out. Having said that, does not mean they are not at risk of self harm or death.
My father committed suicide. I wish I had known then, what I know now.
