I never knew one could put off paying their insurance. I've always thought if it wasn't paid on time it was cancelled.

Sometimes it is. I didn't pay my renters insurance by August 1^st like I was supposed to (It was originally due July 13^th). I'm pretty sure it is cancelled..

Some insurance companies give you a "25" day grace period before you are totally cancelled. Check into it.
