I feel terrible for the families of the students murdered at Santa Fe High School. But the father of the girl the shooter reportedly harassed before killing her is way off base, in my opinion.
He blames the teachers at the school for not predicting the teen would go do what he did. It's not the teachers' fault, of course. The father made no mention of the teacher who died shielding a female student survivor.
The father of Shana Fisher, who was raised by her grandfather rather than either of her parents, also said that as a Christian he would not wish death on the 'messed-up' boy who killed his daughter, even if death was a legal option.
The shooter is charged with capital murder. But, if he's convicted, he won't get the death penalty because he's under 18. He also won't get life without parole for the same reason. The toughest sentence possible by law is life with the possibility of parole after 40 years.
