Tim Burton Does Alice

I REALLY disliked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and this looks like more of the same except with clowns.

I liked Depp's depiction of Willy Wonka and I enjoyed most of the movie, my primary disappointment was that it wasn't 'dark' enough.

The darkest version of Alice has already been made by Czech film maker Jan Svankmejer in 1988, a stop motion animation version of Alice that is seriously fucked up, like David Lynch on acid....

And that was truly bizarre... I believe Svankmejer was going for the effect of a nightmare quality, and at that, he succeeded.
