I try not to see color in a friendship. One of Rick's closest friends is a black guy...he calls himself our "token black friend" but he he always there if something is needed. He even spoke at our wedding, and gave the blessing at dinner.
Speaking of racism...I grew upin the 60's and 70's. Graduated high school in 72. Smaller city, with not a lot of blacks. Only 2 or 3 in my graduating class. Anyway, one guy, Kevin, and I had been school friends since about the 7th grade. One day, while we were i high school, I was out shopping with my mom...this was back when folks actually shopped om Main Street. Anyway, I ran into Kevin, and we stopped for a minute and talked about some class we were in together. My mom went absolutly bonkers. Had all kinds of fits about what people would think..seeing me out in the open talkig to a black boy. Christ..we were standig about 3 feet apart from each other as we talked. To listen to my mom you would have sworn we got all down and dirty right there on Main Street.
I am glad I never inherited that racism.
