Down through.....see above but south.
Over through.....again but west.
Up the line......once more but north.
I've heard that 'straight stretch' (meaning a fairly long straight section of road) is somewhat colloquial, because most places aren't as twisty as WV.
Some of the dumbest things people say in this state, are the way they pronounce the names of places.
Like today, I had to go do a job in a town called 'Cowen'.
I was corrected by 'the locals'. Apparently, it's pronounced 'COW-in'. (like... a cow... right). Lots of examples of that type of stuff.
