US army murderer to plead guilty
#1
A US soldier accused of killing 16 Afghan civilians in two rampages last year will plead guilty to avoid the death penalty, his lawyers say.

Staff Sgt Robert Bales will make the plea on the 5th of june.

He left a US outpost in Kandahar province in the early hours off 11th March 2012, attacking two villages nearby with gunfire. Most of the victims were women and children.

Family members of those killed told the Associated Press news agency they were outraged he might not die.

I can't say I blame them.
