I believe there are more uninformed voters than informed ones. Many will vote for the color of skin or gender and not think twice about it. Some voter drives basically bribe the voters in. But yes there are many that are informed and give some thought to which lever to pull and can see through the veil.

Plus you have those that just vote their party.

Dear Duchess of Mock,
I am concerned regarding the abnormal recent behaviour of one of the members of Mock. It is my observation and opinion that recently the member FQ2 AKA bitch, hag, desperado etc. has been in agreement with myself on a number of recent issues. I am bringing this to your attention as this is not normal, not normal at all. I am deeply concerned that something is not right with this member and maybe unwell or someone may have hacked into this account and is impersonating this member as an intelligent kind hearted human being.
Could you on behalf of myself and other concerned Mockers please investigate?
Best regards Aussie.

My dear Aussiefriend of Down Under,
A lifetime of experience has shown me that the sun shines on a dog's ass every now & then. Also, there are moments in life when the stars align and hell freezes over. It's my personal belief that is what has caused this aberration.
Hope this helps!

Well now.
I don't think I'll warn you that there's a very good chance you'd find me addicting.

I don't get the impression that the majority of people will vote based on skin color or gender; that's just based on my personal interactions and listening to the views expressed by strangers via media. But, I do agree that "many" people might do that; "many" is relative.
I also don't believe that people were somehow more informed up until the 21 st century when the only presidential candidates were white men.
In my opinion, the majority of people are more informed than ever before because there are so many more sources of easily-accessible information than ever before.

I don't see any candidate worth voting for now. But Obama did get 96% of the black vote last election. That was mostly black women also. But blacks have been voting Democrat for many years to begin with. I don't believe they went on his record as he had none to speak of.

He lost some of the black vote in the last election; he got 96% of the black vote in the first one. He still got more than 90% of the black vote in 2012 though.
Obama managed to attract about 70% of the Hispanic vote. That was critical to his victory. I think that has to do more with his social policies and views than the color of his skin, personally.
The Hispanic vote is really key -- they have a high percentage of Independents who could swing either way.
I think its interesting, and should be concerning to the vastly white Republican party, that more non-whites are hitting the polls whilst the percentage of whites who vote is decreasing. For the first time in history in 2012, a higher percentage of both black and Hispanic populations voted as compared to the percentage of the white population.

Some of the pubs speak Spanish. It might help a bit and maybe Hillary has a rosetta stone. Or at least giving it a toss.

Two more Republicans officially announced their candidacies today.
Detroit native ^ Ben Carson officially kicked off his presidential campaign Monday morning at the Detroit Music Hall.
"I'm Ben Carson and I'm a candidate for president of the United States," he said.
He may not have the pedigree or the political experience for the race, Carson said.
"I'm not even asking people to vote for me. I'm just asking people to listen," he said. "the real pedigree we need to heal this country is someone who believes in our constitution."
^ Carly Fiorina -- “I think I’m the best person for the job because I understand how the economy actually works,” Ms. Fiorina told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News on Monday. “I understand executive decision-making, which is making a tough call in a tough time with high stakes.”
Fiorina headed Hewlett-Packard for 6 years before she was ousted. She's gotten a lot of press in regards to her criticisms of Hillary Clinton.

Bernie the Socialist is running also. But the way their single payer insurance scheme went may be detrimental.

He's a likeable character. I don't think an Independent has a shot in our political system, even if he or she weren't a socialist.
I hope that changes at some point in my lifetime, Mags. I think Ross Perot came closest to making a real bid out of it. He too was a character.
Anyway, here's Bernie...
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Sunday that if he becomes president in 2016, he will bring "a real political shake-up" that lifts the nation's poorest while stemming the proliferation of millionaires and billionaires.
In other words, he said he wants to make America look more like Scandinavia.
During an interview on ABC's "This Week," host George Stephanopoulos asked the 73-year-old Vermont senator if it's really possible for someone like him to be elected president. Sanders, who identifies as a democratic socialist, announced his White House run last week.
"Well, so long as we know what democratic socialism is," he said. "And if we know that in countries, in Scandinavia, like Denmark, Norway, Sweden, they are very democratic countries, obviously. The voter turnout is a lot higher than it is in the United States. In those countries, health care is the right of all people. And in those countries, college education, graduate school is free."
