Presidential race 2016
Dammit!

Carly just endorsed Cruz.

I was hoping she'd endorse Trump . . . while wearing a bag over her head . . . at the lectern.

Suspect in two-state killing spree arrested in Missouri

Here's one for you, Greed. Piggy-backing on your BP post.

Fox News

A man suspected of killing five people across Kansas and Missouri was arrested early Wednesday morning after an extensive manhunt, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

Highway Patrol officials told the Kansas City Star that Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino was arrested in Montgomery County, Missouri. He was found lying on a hill just north of Interstate-70 and no shots were fired, according to The Star.

"He looked exhausted," Sgt. James Hedrick said.

The Star reported the area where Serrano-Vitorino was apprehended is near a McDonald's restaurant and several motels.

Serrano-Vitorino is accused of murdering four men late Monday night at his neighbor’s home in Kansas City, Kan. He was also wanted in connection with the shooting death of 49-year-old Randy Nordman in Montgomery County.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a statement late Tuesday that Serrano-Vitorino was a Mexican national who was in the U.S. illegally. According to authorities, he was held at the Overland Park, Kan. Municipal Court on Sept. 14. The fingerprinting generated an ICE detainer, but the agency was “erroneously issued…to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, instead of the Overland Park Municipal Court.”

The Department of Homeland Security said that Serrano-Vitorino was released from custody without ICE being notified, though they did not elaborate on why. ICE also confirmed that Serrano-Vitorino had been deported back to Mexico in 2004, but had since returned illegally.

It was not clear when he returned to the U.S.

The widespread manhunt for him, which started Monday, included helicopters, police dogs and at least one SWAT team. One of the four men managed to call police before he died, but it's unclear how the men knew each other or what may have prompted the shooting, Kansas City police officer Thomas Tomasic said.

A truck Serrano-Vitorino was believed to be driving was found about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning alongside Interstate-70 in central Missouri.

About 25 minutes later, sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting about 5 miles away at a Montgomery County home and found the body of 49-year-old Nordman, according to the patrol.

Highway Patrol Lt. Paul Reinsch said a witness who called 911 reported seeing a man running from Nordman's property, launching a manhunt of that area.

Reinsch said investigators weren't aware of any connection between Serrano-Vitorino and Nordman, whose home is near his family's campground and a racetrack for remote-controlled cars.

Police have not released the names of the four victims, but relatives identified three of them to the Kansas City Star as Mike Capps and brothers Clint and Austin Harter.

If a credible investigation determines that the Mexican government is in fact engaged in a conspiracy to send Mexican murderers and rapists into the United States illegally for some reason, Gunnar, I'll be interested in hearing the evidence. For now, it's an allegation.

So, Trump's very public claim that it's a fact months ago was nothing more than either an unsubstantiated accusation or fiction crafted to reel in certain types of voters. Either way, it worked.

I don't think it's so much a conspiracy, as it is turning a blind eye. Anyone who thinks there aren't Coyotes and cartel loads crossing the border on a daily basis in droves doesn't live in the real world. Have those coyotes and drug runners committed horrible crimes like murder and rape? Yes. Are they being charged by the Mexican LE? No, because many of them ARE LE.

Trump said that the Mexican government is sending rapists and murderers into the United States. That was his claim.

He used that claim to suggest the Mexican government is smarter than the U.S. government and they're playing us for suckers. He also used that claim to bolster his, "we're gonna build a wall and I'm gonna make the Mexican government pay for it!" rhetoric.

He has not produced any proof to back that claim all these months later.

(I don't doubt that many terrible crimes are committed by criminals engaged in the people and drug smuggling businesses.)

And some of those people are in the Mexican government. If you haven't seen Cartel Land yet, I recommend it. It's a very informative documentary. It has a nice little twist at the end that most people miss.

I understand Gunnar.

If Trump eventually puts forth evidence to back his specific claim, I'll listen to what he has to say.

That claim is an example of making a strong public proclamation without providing sufficient foundation to back it up when pressed. I don't like it when anyone does that. But, it doesn't bother me if other people support that strategy or believe he has proof and isn't obligated to support his allegations.

I hear ya, but at the same time you can't really say it's not true either. Much the same way most campaign promises turn out to be complete horse shit spoon fed to the American public in order to garner votes. It's a long standing tradition in American politics.

I understand that it's politics and it rubs me wrong when anyone does it, Gunnar. Trump happens to do it a lot. Sometimes he backtracks, sometimes he drops the claim and moves on to the next, sometimes he edits or adds to the original claim to make it more palatable when people don't seem to be swallowing it. I think that's bullshit, but it doesn't matter to me how anyone else sees it.

I thought it was bullshit when Obama made a public statement suggesting that a hotheaded man shot to death his neighbors because they were Muslim when there was no evidence to suggest it wasn't what it seemed -- a senseless multiple murder over a parking dispute. Obama's done things like that a few times and I call bullshit on him too when I'm compelled. Not everyone agrees with me when I do, and it's fine then too.

Fiorina's bold face lies about the content of the Planned Parenthood sting videos at the second or third debate is another example of the same type of bullshit.

Anyway, if Trump makes the same specific claim again about the Mexican government and substantiates it, I'll listen to him. It's his personal responsibility to back his claim if he wants it to be considered legitimate, in my opinion.

As far as I can tell, this is Donald on pretty much everything -

The New York billionaire, who had promised to name his foreign policy and national security advisers last month, told MSNBC that he has met with people but made no decision yet on who to advise him on global affairs. Asked whether he had a team, Trump said on Tuesday: "Yes, there is a team. Well, there's not a team. I'm going to be forming a team at the appropriate time.

According to Fortune it would tack 10-12 trillion onto America's debt, that's on top of the 10 trillion already projected. The Washington Post calls it an impossible fiscal plan and they then outlined the plan and when on to say that perhaps it was math like this that had led to his many business failures. hah

Tax relief for middle class Americans: In order to achieve the American dream, let people keep more money in their pockets and increase after-tax wages.
Simplify the tax code to reduce the headaches Americans face in preparing their taxes and let everyone keep more of their money.
Grow the American economy by discouraging corporate inversions, adding a huge number of new jobs, and making America globally competitive again.
Doesn’t add to our debt and deficit, which are already too large.

The Trump Tax Plan Achieves These Goals

If you are single and earn less than $25,000, or married and jointly earn less than $50,000, you will not owe any income tax. That removes nearly 75 million households – over 50% – from the income tax rolls. They get a new one page form to send the IRS saying, “I win,” those who would otherwise owe income taxes will save an average of nearly $1,000 each.
All other Americans will get a simpler tax code with four brackets – 0%, 10%, 20% and 25% – instead of the current seven. This new tax code eliminates the marriage penalty and the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) while providing the lowest tax rate since before World War II.
No business of any size, from a Fortune 500 to a mom and pop shop to a freelancer living job to job, will pay more than 15% of their business income in taxes. This lower rate makes corporate inversions unnecessary by making America’s tax rate one of the best in the world.
No family will have to pay the death tax. You earned and saved that money for your family, not the government. You paid taxes on it when you earned it.

The Trump Tax Plan Is Revenue Neutral

The Trump tax cuts are fully paid for by:

Reducing or eliminating most deductions and loopholes available to the very rich.
A one-time deemed repatriation of corporate cash held overseas at a significantly discounted 10% tax rate, followed by an end to the deferral of taxes on corporate income earned abroad.
Reducing or eliminating corporate loopholes that cater to special interests, as well as deductions made unnecessary or redundant by the new lower tax rate on corporations and business income. We will also phase in a reasonable cap on the deductibility of business interest expenses.

DETAILS OF DONALD J. TRUMP’S TAX PLAN

America needs a bold, simple and achievable plan based on conservative economic principles. This plan does that with needed tax relief for all Americans, especially the working poor and middle class, pro-growth tax reform for all sizes of businesses, and fiscally responsible steps to ensure this plan does not add to our enormous debt and deficit.

This plan simplifies the tax code by taking nearly 50% of current filers off the income tax rolls entirely and reducing the number of tax brackets from seven to four for everyone else. This plan also reduces or eliminates loopholes used by the very rich and special interests made unnecessary or redundant by the new lower tax rates on individuals and companies.

The Trump Tax Plan: A Simpler Tax Code For All Americans

When the income tax was first introduced, just one percent of Americans had to pay it. It was never intended as a tax most Americans would pay. The Trump plan eliminates the income tax for over 73 million households. 42 million households that currently file complex forms to determine they don’t owe any income taxes will now file a one page form saving them time, stress, uncertainty and an average of $110 in preparation costs. Over 31 million households get the same simplification and keep on average nearly $1,000 of their hard-earned money.

For those Americans who will still pay the income tax, the tax rates will go from the current seven brackets to four simpler, fairer brackets that eliminate the marriage penalty and the AMT while providing the lowest tax rate since before World War II:

Income Tax Rate Long Term Cap Gains/ Dividends Rate Single Filers Married Filers Heads of Household 0% 0% $0 to $25,000 $0 to $50,000 $0 to $37,500 10% 0% $25,001 to $50,000 $50,001 to $100,000 $37,501 to $75,000 20% 15% $50,001 to $150,000 $100,001 to $300,000 $75,001 to $225,000 25% 20% $150,001 and up $300,001 and up $225,001 and up

With this huge reduction in rates, many of the current exemptions and deductions will become unnecessary or redundant. Those within the 10% bracket will keep all or most of their current deductions. Those within the 20% bracket will keep more than half of their current deductions. Those within the 25% bracket will keep fewer deductions. Charitable giving and mortgage interest deductions will remain unchanged for all taxpayers.

Simplifying the tax code and cutting every American’s taxes will boost consumer spending, encourage savings and investment, and maximize economic growth.

Business Tax Reform To Encourage Jobs And Spur Economic Growth

Too many companies – from great American brands to innovative startups – are leaving America, either directly or through corporate inversions. The Democrats want to outlaw inversions, but that will never work. Companies leaving is not the disease, it is the symptom. Politicians in Washington have let America fall from the best corporate tax rate in the industrialized world in the 1980’s (thanks to Ronald Reagan) to the worst rate in the industrialized world. That is unacceptable. Under the Trump plan, America will compete with the world and win by cutting the corporate tax rate to 15%, taking our rate from one of the worst to one of the best.

This lower tax rate cannot be for big business alone; it needs to help the small businesses that are the true engine of our economy. Right now, freelancers, sole proprietors, unincorporated small businesses and pass-through entities are taxed at the high personal income tax rates. This treatment stifles small businesses. It also stifles tax reform because efforts to reduce loopholes and deductions available to the very rich and special interests end up hitting small businesses and job creators as well. The Trump plan addresses this challenge head on with a new business income tax rate within the personal income tax code that matches the 15% corporate tax rate to help these businesses, entrepreneurs and freelancers grow and prosper.

These lower rates will provide a tremendous stimulus for the economy – significant GDP growth, a huge number of new jobs and an increase in after-tax wages for workers.

The Trump Tax Plan Ends The Unfair Death Tax

The death tax punishes families for achieving the American dream. Therefore, the Trump plan eliminates the death tax.

The Trump Tax Plan Is Fiscally Responsible

The Trump tax cuts are fully paid for by:

Reducing or eliminating deductions and loopholes available to the very rich, starting by steepening the curve of the Personal Exemption Phaseout and the Pease Limitation on itemized deductions. The Trump plan also phases out the tax exemption on life insurance interest for high-income earners, ends the current tax treatment of carried interest for speculative partnerships that do not grow businesses or create jobs and are not risking their own capital, and reduces or eliminates other loopholes for the very rich and special interests. These reductions and eliminations will not harm the economy or hurt the middle class. Because the Trump plan introduces a new business income rate within the personal income tax code, they will not harm small businesses either.
A one-time deemed repatriation of corporate cash held overseas at a significantly discounted 10% tax rate. Since we are making America’s corporate tax rate globally competitive, it is only fair that corporations help make that move fiscally responsible. U.S.-owned corporations have as much as $2.5 trillion in cash sitting overseas. Some companies have been leaving cash overseas as a tax maneuver. Under this plan, they can bring their cash home and put it to work in America while benefitting from the newly-lowered corporate tax rate that is globally competitive and no longer requires parking cash overseas. Other companies have cash overseas for specific business units or activities. They can leave that cash overseas, but they will still have to pay the one-time repatriation fee.
An end to the deferral of taxes on corporate income earned abroad. Corporations will no longer be allowed to defer taxes on income earned abroad, but the foreign tax credit will remain in place because no company should face double taxation.
Reducing or eliminating some corporate loopholes that cater to special interests, as well as deductions made unnecessary or redundant by the new lower tax rate on corporations and business income. We will also phase in a reasonable cap on the deductibility of business interest expenses

Hi, Mr. Greed!

Well, yes by my "column of thought," Donald will surely be more qualified to help us out when we as a Nation, have to declare bankruptcy so you are correct.

There is some good stuff in Donald's tax plan....I have always hated that dang death tax....and so much more, but, and here comes the reality of when something which sounds too good to be true, usually is just that.

If we implement Donald's tax plan, by the year 2020, we will add another one (1) trillion dollars to the National Debt and make him even richer in the process.

I want most of what is outlined in your post above ^^^^^^! However, someone has to pay for it and I am tired of the middle class and poor paying more than the rich in taxes (proportional to their income)...What is wrong with paying your share and closing some of the loopholes which enable Corporations to pay no taxes and when they make record profits. These profits are handed down to investors, but not to the consumer. Take the airlines for example....Record profits in the last two years and now they are talking about even more seats in the cabins....With the reduced fuel costs, do we get a break on a reduction in ticket prices? Are we still paying for a baggage fee to travel...duh? We don't even get a dang peanut, anymore.....

I am not saying, may I remind you, that the rich should pay more taxes, only their fair share....

I didn't think you'd pick up what I put down. You stated that Hilary is most qualified to run this country because she's made mistakes (and the ones she's made are still compounding), so by that column of thought, DJ is most qualified based on his failed business adventures. And if you read what I posted you'd see that DJ's tax plan removes the loop holes, so yeah, you're preaching to the choir. BTW, according to fact check, Hilary's points debating Bern last night were "mostly untrue" whereas Bern's "mostly true" so if DJ get's the nom and Hilary get's the nom American's will have to choose their favorite liar. I'm betting Trump comes out on top of that one.
