Every time I start to think McCain is one of the handful of conservatives I can respect and trust to be sensible, I remember these two words for whom he takes full responsibility: Sarah. Palin.
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

I loathe what McCain has become.
I respect his staunch support of the VA Hospital reform and pushing for veterans' health care. In that respect, he shines far greater than our President.
But he, like so many others, needs to continue their public service in a NGO capacity or within the private sector.
That is, if public service is really his advocation.
Plenty of opportunities out there, sport.
Buh-bye career politician!
Alas, the sumbitch is expected to win.

I didn't talk about politics at all yesterday. I didn't read any either. I wanted to see if political bullshit really did effect my cheery demeanor and all I felt was like I was going to have a stroke from keeping my mouth shut.

Ten days ago, Trump and his campaign were handed a gift from the FBI that allowed them to use new baseless innuendo of criminal conduct against Clinton in the home stretch of the election cycle. I think they made good use of it and milked it for all it was worth.
Clinton's team has been saying publicly that Comey's vague letter to the House Oversight Committee was entirely inappropriate (at the very least), but had no impact on her campaign. I think it clearly hurt and had a measurable impact, personally.
At any rate, that FBI gift has now stopped giving with today's confirmation that the relevant emails found on the Weiner/Abedin laptop were almost all dupes of what had already been reviewed in the original investigation and there were no new classified docs found. The July decision clearing Clinton of any potential criminal charges stands.
FBI DIRECTOR COMEY ANNOUNCEMENT 11/6/16: Since my letter, the FBI investigative team has been working around the clock to process and review a large volume of emails from a device obtained in connection with an unrelated criminal investigation. During that process we reviewed all of the communications that were to or from Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State. Based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton. I am very grateful to the professionals at the FBI for doing an extraordinary amount of high-quality work in a short period of time.

I still cannot get past the fact that Clinton was given the debate questions and accepted them knowing full well it was wrong and she did not squeak a peep. I gotta tell ya she certainly has an aura of deception and only admits something when she's caught. I don't trust people like that.

We know that interim DNC chairperson Donna Brazile allegedly sent two emails with possible debate questions to the Clinton campaign manager while Brazile was still commentating on CNN.
We also know that at least one Clinton campaign doc that has been leaked was altered or forged. There are investigations underway into both the DNC and Clinton campaign hacks and the altered/forged docs.
Assuming the Brazile emails were authentic, we don't know whether Hillary Clinton got a heads-up on the questions or knew the source from her debate-preppers if she did. In any case, Clinton's responses to those questions were not among her best and don't appear to have affected her overall debate performance by anybody's account.
Brazile says she didn't send any questions to the Clinton campaign. If she did, it's unethical and she deserves the condemnation she's receiving, I agree. If she didn't, it'll likely come out later.
As far as the FBI snafu goes, that's a much bigger deal in terms of negative impact to one campaign to the benefit of another, by any objective set of eyes. But, I don't hold Donald Trump responsible for the bias and loose lips of disgruntled FBI agents, nor do I blame him for exploiting that huge home-stretch gift.
Trump sure overplayed his hand though by jumping to wrong conclusions and publicly insisting them to be fact when he could have just stoked innuendo and likely gained as much or more. I don't know if Trump was simply lying again with the rhetoric he's been spewing since the first Comey letter was released, or if he instead got suckered into full-throating baseless conspiracy theory yet again. In either case, he and Giuliani look like fools (again), as does Jason Chaffetz (again).

Early reports show the Democrats ahead but the Republicans should have a strong showing as soon as they get out of work.

I heard on CNN that more registered Republicans than registered Democrats have cast their votes as of this morning in some of the battleground states.
But, there are so many Independent and unaffiliated voters and it's unclear which way the majority of them will be voting this year.
The number of Hispanic/Latino American citizens that have voted is reportedly way up as compared to 2008 or any other year, almost double. That's a key demographic -- especially in Nevada, Florida, Texas and Arizona.

The Trump campaign continues to claim that American Hispanics/Latinos will break big for Trump. If they're right, I'll be shocked, but it would really help Trump's chances. Aside from older generation Cuban Americans, I think Trump's going to get a significantly lower percentage of the growing Hispanic/Latino vote than his Republican predecessors.
2004 George W. Bush (winner), 40% of Latino vote
2008 John McCain (loser), 31% of Latino vote
2012 Mitt Romney (loser), 27% of Latino vote
So far, African American turn-out is significantly lower for Clinton than it was for Obama. It'll be interesting to see if Clinton makes up that deficit with record numbers of votes from Latinos and Independent women + Republican women from the 'never Trump' camp.
