Who knew the Mantis was a bad ass?
#21
The last one I saw was on the receiving end of my foot...not intentionally, it was after dark and I slipped into my "dogwalking" shoes I keep on the patio. A big fat mother fuckering example had slid in to spend the night I guess. Couldn't figure out what the fuck was in my shoe until I immediately removed it only to find a writhing speciman that had slimed my entire sock and shoe insides when I stepped on it. Fucker was still alive the next morning until I put it out of its misery with a fucking shovel.

neat insects though.

Yah, I am not into squishing mantis guts on my feet as I slip my shoes on.

It's nice to know you're manly and tough like that, Sally.

I'm not manly and tough, I just don't have gay thoughts and stop myself from typing them by clicking on an emoticon.

Meanwhile, you'd be the first one running and screaming if you had half-alive mantis guts on your anal-retentive, obsessive compulsive feet.

JB I think it's still illegal to kill them. They are one of the few bugs I have no problem with.

They are pretty fucking cool when they spread out and start hissing too.

They are actually beneficial to gardens because they eat bugs like mosquitoes and beetles.... most plant destroying bugs are eaten by them.

There are actually a few plants as well as bugs here that are protected from destruction, like holly trees (the males because they're so rare) and prickly pear cactus.

Well that myth is quashed!

Either way, I don't kill them. I acutally find ways of importing them here along with those wasps that don't sting but eat mosquitos by the hoards.

I don't kill them either !...Any worthwhile gardener WANTS them in their garden & I'm always delighted to see that I have some.

speaking of bugs...Lumpy mentioned ladybugs...i love them, they're too cute! i always considered it good luck to hold one in my hand for a little while.

then there are japanese beetles...they ARE destructive little things and my brother and i collected those from my Mother's roses, which pleased her.

and of course, what kid never collected jars of lightning bugs/fireflies at dusk? such simple pleasures we enjoyed back in the day! Smiley_emoticons_biggrin

There is a myth, that I choose to believe, that ladybugs bring good luck...I don't like Jap beetles either, they are so friggin' destructive...I don't really have a problem with bugs in general, nor snakes but, I can't bear a spider, in particular a wolf spider ::scared::

Holy crap!! I don't care much for bugs but spiders don't usually bother me. I just grab a wad of tissue and kill it. THAT thing however is a freak!
