I don't know who this man is and the first time I've seen or heard his name was about 5 minutes ago when I read what he has to say. He speaks for me in this instance. I agree with him on every word.

Today, news broke that Charlie Kirk was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Let me be blunt: I will not pretend to feel sorry for Charlie Kirk. For years, he has profited off division, peddled conspiracy theories, and targeted marginalized groups with rhetoric so toxic it has made this country less safe. He has called for public executions, mocked trans people as “abominations,” treated politics like a holy war — and in 2023, he even said that gun deaths were an “unfortunate” but acceptable price to keep the Second Amendment.

Today, he became part of the very toll he once dismissed. That doesn’t make him a martyr — it makes him a cautionary tale about what happens when leaders treat human lives as expendable. That doesn’t mean I condone what happened. Political violence is wrong — always. It poisons our democracy, no matter who the target is. If we go down that path, America as we know it collapses.

But here’s the truth: when you spend years throwing gasoline on the fire, you don’t get to act shocked when flames break out. Charlie Kirk built a career out of incitement. He’s not a victim of political violence so much as he is one of its architects.

This is a reminder that words have consequences. Leaders — real leaders — should be lowering the temperature, not raising it. They should be uniting people around solutions, not cashing in on fear and hate.

I ran for Congress because I’m sick of this cycle — sick of watching extremists on the right and performative purists on the left treat America like their personal stage show while working-class families get crushed. Enough. Violence is not the answer. But neither is pretending that Charlie Kirk is some innocent casualty. He chose this path. He pushed this rhetoric. And now we’re all living in the world it created.

You agree with this douche mocking someone’s death that never did a fucking thing to him?

Sally this is similar to the rhetoric I have seen online. It is not condoning his death or the violence. He even has a quote saying "if some are sacrificed so we can have our 2^nd amendment rights, so be it" Did he deserve death because of saying that-no. But he certainly never expressed sympathy for people dying the same way. If he did and I'm wrong I will admit that, but everything I have found so far today shows that he lacked empathy and sympathy.

He said “it’s worth the cost of, unfortunately, to have gun deaths so we can keep our 2^nd amendment”. Everyone who owns a gun basically agrees with this whether they say it or not. They own a gun because they believe in having 2^nd amendment rights even while fully knowing that gun deaths happen daily. Duchess has said before that she owns a gun, does she lack empathy too?

I am reading that threats were made and the place put on lockdown-but the threats were made remotely to make it look like there was someone on campus. The threat came from someone thrown out of the academy.
There was a shooting exchange between someone sheltered in place and an officer, that person is expected to recover.

I attended four of his monthly events in the Valley with my Mum and brother.  Always had great speakers that were thought provoking.  Was actually planning to join my Mum for his upcoming Turning Point event on the 18^th.

That ain't happening now.

His death is was a political assassination of a conservative voice . . . devoid of the Fentanyl Floyd riots and looting.

I admit 100% to not knowing much about CK (at all) except after his death. His viewpoints that are coming up since (algorithms) don’t sit well with me but regardless, wish he hadn’t been killed.

That is interesting. Maybe we need to start a new thread about this topic. I have watched a couple of his videos this week and one that stood out to me was his stance on democracy-that it is bad. I will probably have to go back and find it now.

All sorts of things have been posted about his beliefs on trans, gay, women...abortion...I've heard some of it in his videos but not all. I usually stop watching after a minute or 2.

  No, I've never watched Charlie's show nor have I ever been to a Turning Point USA event. Neither one of those things have kept me from understanding what he was all about because his opinions were often newsworthy for the outrageous content he spewed. I can only go by the things I've heard him say or the things that he posted, I got my info straight from the horse's mouth so I'm quite aware of his opinions.  He was a racist, Tiki. For example, he once said, "Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. They have to steal a white person' slot". There are many, many more examples so I can understand why other racists would be drawn to him. He also thought women are 2^nd class citizens, which his wife goes along with, happily.  There is so much more and it's readily available to all who care to look.
