ANOTHER SCHOOL/PUBLIC SHOOTING
(03-29-2023, 10:14 AM)BigMark Wrote: I blame violent video games and no work.

Really?

What about the film industry?  We idolize violent movies . . . and Hollywood keeps cranking them out.

With guns . . . lots of guns.

Yeah, it's all make believe . . . just pretend time.

And life never imitates "art".

The most significant difference I can come up with is America being a superpower, which is akin to being an empire in terms of military aggression/intervention. Empire and republic are mutually exclusive. Our state has pretenses to being a representative democracy but it behaves like an empire. Combine that with the socio-economic consequences of globalism and you have a society that's descending into the gutter, with the full blessing of our "representatives".

Oh for fucks sake!

It's goddammed high fructose corn syrup.

Every since sugar was systematically being replaced by this liquid crap, the rate of mass shootings has increased in an exact parallel manner. (1970's to date).

And removing the dolphin from tinned tuna, too.  Decrease in tuna with dolphin . . . increase in mass shootings.  Provable inverse relationship.

Look at the graphs!  Quit making this shit geo-political.

Remember the Romans? Once a republic that achieved greatness, all down the toilet for the sake of empire, and why? Because a few powerful individuals realized the possibility for accumulating treasure and wealth on an unprecedented scale. It was never about the quest for "glory" that the legionaires were duped into believing.

Empires always end in bankruptcy, morally and financially. In response to the question, "what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?", Ben Franklin replied, "A republic, if you can keep it". The surest way to lose a republic is to pursue empire. And here we are, down in the gutter compared to where we once were, and the worst is yet to come.

The most effective way to maintain and expand power is by employing the strategy of divide and conquer. No other nation in this world is more divided than America. Multi-cultural, mostly disintegrated, and totally dysfunctional. The divisiveness could be corrected, but there is no effort to do so at the state and federal levels, so the nation descends into madness. The stress increases exponentially, as does the hatred and scapegoating, so extremism, which used to be an outlier, is now becoming the norm.

Violent media is insufficient to cause what we're seeing today. It's definitely a factor, but it isn't the root cause. The destruction we're seeing is not incidental. If you
wrote a book titled "Self-destruction For Dummies", America would tick off all the boxes -- literally.

I stumbled across this in my internet travels. A causative link between the proscribing of antidepressants and violence. The increase in the number of children being given these medications correlates with the increase in horrific acts of violence. These meds are known to cause depersonalization and hallucination, but there is no mention of this in the literature provided by pharmacies. The FDA has been aware of the link between antidepressants and violent behavior for decades, and has done nothing about it.

So I guess I netter go look for the stat of how many mass shooters were on anti depressants. Also do the anti depressants affect males differently than females? Asking for a friend.

That information would be provided by parents in cases re children. I have doubts that media outlets would seek that it, but it's worth checking. Independant doctors would probably be a better bet.

Antidepressants effect everyone differently. I take effexor and haven't murdered anyone as of yet. I'm slowly tapering off, and am done with statins. The absolute risk reduction is statistically insignificant, so they're marketed on the basis of relative risk reduction, which looks very good, but in my opinion it's a worthless metric.

Fraudulent marketing is a common practice in corporate society, and medicine is no exception. /rant

Also I am looking for a statistic of how many children have died this year in school shootings. We know the # of shootings as 129, what is the # of child deaths.

I can't remember why I was looking for that statistic, something I was looking for last week.

Kudos to Colorado!  You saw something and said something.

"Colorado authorities arrested a 19-year-old suspect for allegedly planning to shoot up multiple schools in Colorado Springs.   The 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office on Thursday said the defendant, William Whitworth, who identified as "Lilly" and – according to a DA spokesman – was in the process of transitioning to female.

During questioning, Whitworth admitted to planning a school shooting, with the suspect's former middle school, Timberview, being a "main target," according to the affidavit.

Arrest papers say deputies found a drawn layout of the school and a manifesto filled with "schizophrenic rants" and mentions of serial killers, politicians, and entertainers, including the Columbine shooters and former President Donald Trump."

I'm sure it's all harmless . . . and was just "that time of the month", for Lil.  To bad she didn't identify as Janie.

Geez . . . "aggressor".

C'mon media!  If it's with a firearm, it's a shooter.

And the little coward livestreamed the carnage, on Instagram.  Social media and an AR-15 type rifle . . . plus anger.  Why is this a recurring trilogy?

Like with the gender pretender shooter's Manifesto, not much is being released about this fuck.  BATF was on scene (as was the FBI) and nothing mentioned about the purchase of the firearm.

The following is from CNN:

Sturgeon had worked at the bank for more than a year but had been notified he was going to be terminated, according to a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation.

Sturgeon wrote a note to his parents and a friend indicating that he was going to open fire in the bank, the source said. It is not clear whether that note was on paper or emailed, or whether it was seen before the incident or after, according to the source.

In a 2018 college essay posted to the website CourseHero, a user identified as a University of Alabama student named Connor Sturgeon wrote that he had had trouble fitting in at school.

“My self-esteem has long been a problem for me,” the essay read. “As a late bloomer in middle and high school, I struggled to a certain extent to fit in, and this has given me a somewhat negative self-image that persists today. Making friends has never been especially easy, so I have more experience than most in operating alone.”

The author wrote that in college, he had “begun to mature socially and am beginning to see improvement in this area,” and that he hoped to “be more self-aware and start becoming a ‘better’ person.”

The usual onset for schizophrenia, in males, is from 18-25 years old.  I AM NOT SUGGESTING this asshole suffered from schizophrenia . . . I'm simply stating a statistical fact.

I wonder what was his "type", using the the Myers-Briggs eval?  Maybe the same as Piggy's?  Dunno.

I do know this.  Now, it's . . . D-E-A-D.

Thoughts and prayers to the critically wounded officer, his family and fellow LEO.  Just 10 days on the job, and willing to risk his life, for others.

In Britain gun amnesties occured in the 60s and 70s, that would be a good start for the USA. The guns were melted.
