It was entirely predictable that Putin would retaliate militarily if the West kept poking the hornet's nest, which it did -- also very predictable, given that neocons are involved, just as they were in Iraq. So it simply isn't true that Putin is entirely to blame for this, because the aggressive eastward expansion of NATO is blatantly hostile from a Russian perspective.

If we can't include the Russian perspective in passing judgement on this mess -- which has been long in the making -- we probably aren't fit to judge much of anything.

I didn't mention the war criminals, Bush & Cheney, I didn't mention NATO, I didn't even mention the Russians, I posted a photograph with a small description and yet here are you & Sally not only justifying what is going down but telling all of us to have some perspective and scolding us for judging Putin.

IMO, if ordinary people were more involved in governance, it would allow us to change policies in ways that would strengthen the rule of law. What we're seeing in Ukraine is indicative of what happens when certain groups of people are shielded from the consequences of their actions. We can change this if we step up to the plate and work together.
