Get your telescope out. We’re crossing the Lyrid meteor stream from now until April 26. You can expect to see 10-20 meteors per hour on the peak morning. There's a chance you could be surprised and experience raining meteors at a rate of up to 100 per hour. Wooo.

I think the meteor showers are better by eye because you see quite a few out of the corner of your eye. Looking at a comet is OK with a telescope though.

No, not lately, I've seen it a few times but only when the solar flares are active and huge.

I remember on my birthday in 2008-09 not sure which I went camping in the new forest, clearest sky ever and meteor shower went on for hours, was on psychedelics too, was great.
