I think a good portion of society still finds it wrong or thinks transgenders should just stay in the closet, MS. Some don't even acknowledge that transgenderism is a real condition.
But, the entertainment industry, most media outlets, and the less conservative portion of the population are either accepting of Jenner and her choice to live her life as she sees fit, or embracing/celebrating her for it. They see Jenner as someone who is high-profile and can help make it more acceptable for other transgenders to free themselves and come out as who they really are.
I'm accepting of it. I think people should have the freedom to express themselves without being threatened or discriminated against. Why not?

I can't help but wonder if all the antics of the rest of the Kardashiam clan is affecting how people are perceiving all this.

Exactly. This is why Rolling Stone put the Tsarnaev on their cover and also published a bogus rape story.

The sports world, at least some in the higher ranks, appear to be embracing Jenner's change. I don't know if part of that stems from almost guaranteed higher ratings for the broadcast of the Arthur Ashe awards.
ESPN will honor Caitlyn Jenner with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPY Awards, according to CNN's Brian Stelter. The show is set to take place on July 15 on ABC.
The Arthur Ashe Award is given to those "possessing strength in the face of adversity, courage in the face of peril and the willingness to stand up for their beliefs no matter what the cost," according to ESPN.com. Past winners include Michael Sam, Robin Roberts, Nelson Mandela, Pat Tillman, Muhammad Ali and Billie Jean King.

Bruce Jenner broke records and now Caitlyn Jenner has too. She registered a twitter account and got over 1M followers in four hours.

Gender identification and sexual orientation are very hard to understand for anyone, including the person who discovers this emerging reality as they are growing up. All this is compounded by those around them, wanting them to reject the truth while they struggle to accept it.

I agree with MS. Puke.
It's not even about him becoming a woman, that's beside the point. Other men have done it, I watched a documentary about it once and those poor bastards didn't get on the cover of vanity fair and interviews with Dianne Sawyer. It's about him allowing people to make a big deal about it and then using it as an excuse that it is helping other transgenders. He's like the breast feeding cows at TGIF.
Fuck Bruce Jenner.

I think it must be so much harder for someone who achieved fame as a man to change like this, and do so publicly. I say you go girl. You actually make a better looking woman. I know the VF cover has had some work, plus a professional makeup job on her, but wow.

There's a pic out there of her sitting behind the wheel of her Porsche and it's beautiful. All the pix of her are incredible. I was astounded when I first saw the Vanity Fair cover. I never expected her to look as fantastic as she does.

Nope, I choose to respect her choices. I would if I knew her in person.

Jenner is a really famous person. There was no way around it. The attention from the media was gonna be massive with the transition, no matter what.
It's smart that Jenner took control of that and made it mostly positive attention for himself and an opportunity to promote awareness and understanding of transgender issues. If she'd not controlled her coming out, it easily could have become a freak show kinda guessing game and chop fest in the tabloids that made transgenderism an object of ridicule.
I don't know if she's getting off on all of the attention, but I'd bet the reassurance is great. I get the impression from the interview that Jenner is thrilled to live as a woman for some years before she dies; she seems very relieved.
Anyway, I think that Jenner's story will in fact prompt some suffering transgenders to come out. But, I'm not sure that's all good. Most transgenders don't have anywhere near the amount of money, support and resources that Jenner does. Jenner has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in surgeries, the best meds and doctors, a designer wardrobe, etc... Her transition and lifestyle is nothing like most transgenders', it's night and day. The public's acceptance and embracing of a famous and beautiful transgender woman doesn't necessarily translate into greater acceptance of transgenders in general. But, I think and hope that overall the Jenner exposure will have a positive impact on transgender individuals.
Okay, I'm hopping off of Bruce Jenner's dick now.

Hollywood sure does change people. I guess after living there for so long it becomes normal. Like when a person moves to a different state and begins to get a new accent. Did he just decide to become a woman or did he want to become one when he was younger like when he was a teenager? I think its kinda freaky myself but he has enough money so he can gain attention any way he sees fit. Maybe he secretly wants more attention than his step daughters. There is an egotistical streak that runs a turtles mile out there.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.
