I like old music, old rock n roll, the stuff I grew up listening to. It's so old now it's called classic. Har Har.
It's sorta mind blowing that those old rockers are my parents age.

How about this one instead:
We've only just begun, to live...
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way...

Sad music news...
Saxophonist Bobby Keys died today at his home in Tennessee. He was 70 and had been ill since earlier this year when he had to drop out of touring with The Rolling Stones.
He played sax for a lot of artists, but most notably several tracks for The Stones. He's the big man behind the awesome sax on "Brown Sugar".
Here's Bobby blowing "Brown Sugar" with The Suffering Bastards a couple of years back.
Great live version of the song. That's Jackie Greene on vocals -- the rest of the bastards: Dan Baird (Georgia Satellites), Steve Gorman (The Black Crowes), Robert Kearns (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Michael Webb (John Fogerty, Poco), and Chark Kinsolving (Mike Farris, Spoonful).
RIP Bobby Keys.

RIP Bobby Keys. It's pretty amazing that Bobby lated as long as he did... He did more smack than Keith.

Sax, drugs, and rock-n-roll is good for the soul, I guess.
Keith is still kicking, but another Rolling Stones collaborator died yesterday.
Snip:
Rolling Stones collaborator and Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan has died.
A statement on his official website said the musician died Wednesday in Austin, Texas, after suffering a stroke a day earlier. He was 69.
McLagan was a member of the British pop group Small Faces in the 1960s. The band changed its name to Faces when Rod Stewart and Ron Wood joined in 1969.
Kenney Jones, McLagan's bandmate in both groups, said he is "completely devastated" at the news, adding, "I know this goes for Ronnie and Rod also."
McLagan went onto record and perform with the Rolling Stones, playing on the band's 1978 album "Some Girls," including the organ solo on the hit single "Miss You." He released several solo albums, including a tribute to his Small Faces bandmate Ronnie Lane in 2008. McLagan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
RIP.

Tiki posted this version of Tupelo Honey in the Living in The Past thread some time back. I love it.
Pee Wee Ellis on sax.

I don't care what anybody says about Kanye, the man has a real knack for spotting raw new talent.
I felt the same way when Run DMC discovered Aerosmith and Lady Gaga helped some dude named Tony Bennett get a record deal.
Whenever we take a road trip, my niece thinks every 70s'/80s' male singer-songwriter is Jim Croce. James Taylor comes on, she says, "this is Jim Croce, right?" Jackson Browne's playing, she says, "you really like Jim Croce, huh?" David Gates is singing, she figures it's Jim Croce. So, last time we drove somewhere, I put a Jim Croce CD on and she said, "I know this song -- my mom likes Elton John too." Still makes me laugh. I think she was totally serious, but I'm not certain anymore -- she plays me like a fiddle.

Ahhh...the younger generation.
I wish you could have seen the looks on all the 20-somethings faces (including both my sons) when us old women cranked up the Niel Diamond when we were cooking dinner. Then we started singing...then they all ran to the garage.
When we were growing up, sat mornings were for cleaning and we almost always listened to Niel Diamond because he was my moms favorite...even above Elvis. We all love ND to this day. lol
I'm a little shocked to see Paul hooking up with Kanye Kardashian.

This has really gotta suck.
A podiatrist is offering a $5,000 reward for the return of vintage record albums he says were stolen from his Corona, Calif. office.
Jeffrey Katz says someone broke in through the roof of his office over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and stole a number of irreplaceable albums, including all eight by rock legends Led Zeppelin, signed by all four band members, reports the station.
Also taken were albums by The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton.
Katz reportedly estimates that the albums are worth $200,000 to $400,000. They weren't insured.
