I hope the allegations are false and he's not really a serial date rapists. I've always like Cosby alright.
But, the women who have accused him aren't bimbos (the ones I know anything about) and his camp has sure handled the situation strangely.

I don't know the whole story - I saw an older woman on the news this morning, older than all of us and she was making an accusation but said it took place when she was in her 20's. I have a problem with them when they wait so long to say something. It makes me feel suspicious. Would any of you wait years to make your claim? C'mon.
I hope it's not true.

I haven't been following the story closely, Duchess, and only know about two of the accusers.
But, complaints were filed at the time of the incidents.
I think Cosby settled with one and denied the other; more accusers are coming forward (legitimate or not, I don't know). It's like a snowball right now.
I'll wait to see what comes next -- Cosby's cancelled recent appearances and been removed as a guest from others.

I care but I don't. This is yet another case where something that may/may not have happened 30+ years ago only gets the public interest because of his celebrity.
If it happened I feel badly for the women but I have a problem with those that keep this type of thing mostly quiet and then look for their justice over 30 years later. It just bugs me. If they can't prosecute him any longer, the only point is to ruin him now for acts that occurred decades ago.
I'm not saying it's related but he has a lot of enemies for the way he's spoken about America's black youth. I'm sure they'd be happy to see him completely humiliated.

IMO, Bill Cosby is guilty, but will wait for facts to come out. Women very often (i.e., 30 years ago) did not report rapes, because they felt ashamed, embarrassed, humiliated, etc., plus they felt like no one would believe them over the ever popular Bill Cosby. I do understand the non reporting. Remember when Priests started being accused of molestation and rape of young boys. Many of the boys did not report crime at the time because of same reasons and they only told their stories when they became an adult and usually, because someone had the courage to report it. It is much easier to report this crime if you know you weren't the only one and you have support to go ahead and report it. Not easy to do when person doing raping has more power than victim...
There are a lot more rape, etc victims out there that have never been reported to the authorities. During a trial, the victim is usually accused of being a slut; she is made to feel guilty for "allowing" it to happen. Kudos to all the brave women and men out there who have gone forward with charges in spite of time elapsed. Doesn't matter if 30 years have elapsed. It is something that changes and affects a person for life.
Yes, User, I know you would just pull up your baggy, holey pants and move on and more power to you. I know you have strength to stand by your daughter and that all that matters now even tho we disagree at times. I consider myself a strong person, too, so from one strong person to another, good luck with your daughter.

Those women were adults at the time of the alleged accusations, not scared little children. If Bill Cosby raped me I wouldn't wait years until some other woman came out with it and then jump on the bandwagon. He's innocent imo. You should have spoke up when it happened, times up slut.

She did speak up at the time, and was vilified for it. No one believed her and those who did asked why she continued to associate with Cosby. Her aim now in coming forward, as she stated, is not as a victim but to support the new accuser so she doesn't face the same vilification process. There are starting to be several more women coming forward. From all eras starting as far back as 1969. And others who say there have always been "rumors" about Cosby.

What was her excuse for continuing to associate with him? I guess I could find it myself, but I don't care enough to.

At the time, the late 80's he had been her "mentor" helping her with getting into acting, and the details of the rape involved treating her special, being nice to her, taking her under his wing etc. Then he gave her a drink at some function, drugged her and she woke up naked with him on top of her or something like that. The mindfuck probably did her worse than the actual act, trying to reconcile the guy being nice and all fatherly and then taking advantage like that. Very similar story to most cases of rape by pastors, teachers, step parents and other assorted scumbags. It also leaves the door open for people to make assumptions about complicity because it wasn't somehow violent enough to be a rape. In her case she almost convinced herself that the first event had been an accident, then he pulled the same exact stunt on her again, and that was the end of their relationship. Nice treatment, drugged drink, rape while drugged.
It's very similar to what certain members of my family went through as children and still go through as adults. I have no love for scumbags who use their positions of trust to be despicable human beings.

Now Janice Dickinson has come out with rape accusations as well and with a similar story as the others, lured to his home with a TV offer, drugged and then raped.

If a rapist uses his fame, power and wealth to lure victims and establish trust, then his fame, power and wealth will be jeopardized when he's exposed (assuming he still has those things when the allegations are made public). The fact that he has a lot to lose by being exposed (or prosecuted) doesn't make him the victim. Common sense and reality.
Date rape is often harder to prosecute even when the victim files a formal complaint at the time of the incident (which at least a couple of his accusers did against Cosby). The victim initially trusts the rapist, so the rapist doesn't have to use violence (which leaves evidence) to perpetrate the rape. It's a source of frustration for many LEOs, prosecutors and date rape victims.
In the Cosby case, it's consistently alleged that his M.O. was to slip his protegees a micky and then violate them. As Donovan posted, there's a major mind fuck involved when there's such betrayal combined with a physical violation, and having been drugged makes the victim less sure of what happened (which is likely one of the points of the drugging). If the rapist is smooth, he can play on that and afford himself an opportunity to do it again. That doesn't make the rape victim less a victim.
I've watched and read some of the Cosby accusers' accounts. They strike me as credible and I haven't heard that any of them is seeking money at this point. They want him stopped and don't want to be called liars -- they're supporting each other against their rapist; that's the objective that I've heard and read.
The alleged rape victims did not run to the media collectively to start this ball rolling, another comedian familiar with the existing rape accusations and legal documents dogged Cosby for being a rapist during his act-- that comedian got this public snowball rolling. It's a stretch of the imagination, for me, that this is a conspiracy by other blacks to get a bunch of unrelated women together, falsify old legal complaints and court documents, and convince the women to make false rape allegations against Bill Cosby because those other blacks are mad that Cosby tells black youth to pull up their black pants and get their shit together.
Anyway, yesterday Cosby's lawyer had to publicly retract a statement by Cosby that the woman with whom he settled out of court in 2005 (because her case wasn't prosecutable) had been discredited.
Maybe all of these women are lying; it's possible. And fame, power and wealth does attract allegations by losers who are looking for a quick buck and notoriety -- I often consider allegations against celebrities non-credible when researching them a bit. But, based on what I've seen so far, there's good cause to believe the allegations against Cosby may be true (even though I hope they're not). If they are true, fuck him. He doesn't deserve to be treated any better than any other low-life serial rapist just because he's famous and he'd been doing it for ages.

I don't think they're lying necessarily. I just take issue with people being persecuted 30+ years after the fact.
Granted, I was never a rapist but I was a completely different person 20-30 years ago as opposed to today. I shot heroin a few times back then...doesn't make me a junkie today.
We're never going to agree on this.

Yeah, we don't agree on this one, French Fry.
You didn't betray and violate women or children or commit personal crimes against vulnerable people. People who commit such crimes don't get a pass from me, even if they don't get publicly exposed or held accountable for a very long time.
What Stephen Collins admitted to doing and Bill Cosby is accused of doing are not analogous with what you did in your misspent youth -- not by a long shot. Sounds like you chose to do some things that could hurt yourself; the impacts of which might hurt those around you. That just makes you a flawed human being like everybody else.
