I had read the other day he had been rushed to the hospital. I wasn't a fan but I knew he was.

Yeah sort of a shame but 83 is a fucking good innings for a man and I will be happy if I make it past my 60s.

I will miss him. He has been part of the culture for so long and his Spock character will live forever.
His character was initially depicted as the USS Enterprise's science officer for the original pilot, "The Cage" (1964). He was to appear in 'What Ever Happened to Calamity Jane' but lost out when the setting for the movie was changed from the American frontier to Hollywood and the lead character played by Bette Davis was changed from frontierswoman to spoiled child/psychopathic brat.

This is cool & so fitting. While orbiting around Earth on the International Space Station, American astronaut Terry Virts took a minute to pay fitting tribute to Leonard Nimoy, who died on Friday at 83. The late actor's home state of Massachusetts can be seen just to the right of Virts' Vulcan salute. |
